  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc clutch issue

Pro Class
marking singletrack yday & the old girl decided to stop shifting up from first! worked intermittedly but sometimes trying to get to second she would just grind & it sounded nasty other times fine! just felt dead on shift lever like it had only one gear. anyway got it into 2nd, finished cuttin in single which only required said gear & went home. oil due for a change but this not an oil issue! shift drum/fork? clutch still needs adjustin(yeah yeah juicy i still havnt done it yet:D) so what required to check out the issue? split cases or just the inner cover? probably due a bottom end at 220+ hours anyway. thoughts yall

ps 13:50 awesome compare to 13:48. brings 3rd into it a heap more & makes 1st/2nd better for gnarly tight stuff. shoulda done it years ago!

Bolt on the end of the shift drum has come loose Shawbagga by the sound of things , pop the clutch cover off and then the clutch basket and all will be revealed lol
Do a search, Im sure it must of been covered here many times before assumeing its a 250 / 300 not the 125

yep 300. will do in coupla weeks when get home. cheers johnnyboy. damn it then ill hav to adjust the clutch as have no excuses left:)

Also make sure your shifter hasn't bent in slightly and is catching on the clutch cover. If this happens you'll have the same issues; schitty shifting. If not a bent shifter then a loose shift drum screw. Pull it out, clean off the oil, apply red locktite, then torque it to 2 or 3 times greater than what the oem torque specs says. That's what I did anyway and have not had any issues since.

shifter all good brian but ill check it all out when i get home & let yas know what the go is. im sure i will post up asking what bolts & screws are what:D
