  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone have any good recommendations for a clean safe product degreaser and cleaner to use. I always wonder how they got gncc bikes so clean wondering if anyone uses any good products.

Mean Green works far better and is half price. Fact. I'm a perfectionist, my stuff looks showroom new, and I never touch it w/ a sponge...

My buddy who used to race supercross recommended purple power, ill take a look at this Mean Green, thanks alot.

I only use Mr Clean multi surface or floor cleaner. I keep some in a spray bottle for tough spots and mix some and wash with a med bristle brush. It works great and wont kill your yard.

Currently using vinyl siding cleaner- good on plastic of course, seems not too corrosive on the metal, also inexpensive

Nearly all those cleaners will, IF allowed to dry on aluminum. I've used it for a decade, and am as anal a perfectionist as ever has lived. It's almost embarrassing that my high hour bikes look show room new. Not a single etched mark on anything. Just cough up the $5 for a gallon of Mean Green, don't let it dry on the bike, and prepare to be amazed.....

We need to know what Kelly uses on his 511. Its always spotless in his product demo pics.

Don't know if y'all have this product around..it's called "Awesome"..it's avaiable in refill or spray bottle...costs only a dollar at certain "DOLLAR TREE" dollar stores...it might be at others.I know some Wally Worlds carry it but they charge more.I 've used alot of cleaners on my bikes these past35+ years and this stuff is great...full strength the stuff really works .I usually rinse the big clods of mud off first(no need if just dirt)let the water air dry a bit and spray away...let it sit for a few minutes and rinse...DONE!..except for shots of wd40 here and there to drive moisture out and a quick shot of Motul Shine N Go after drying!

This stuff etches the aluminum leaving water like markes on the black upper forks.

Yes, that is nasty stuff. The Costco brand cleaner is the same way.
I sprayed my black anodized bike stand, no rinse (can you say "kids" + sun = a change of color. I now have a gold..ish stand :)

I have also been impressed with the Mr Clean Multi-surface. Only used it on my boat and not on any bikes. For some reason in Canada you cant find it on the shelf anymore. Cam.

What ever you use make sure it is non-etching! You can degrade the look quick. I am now using Simple Green Crystal. It is 20.00 a gallon but will not discolor plastic, rubber or metal. Very good degreaser for the bike. I wet the bike, spray it on nylon brush the bad spots and rinse it off, Done...Dry, lube and store for next ride and you are good. Plexi (Plexal) is good on shining your plastic but so is WD-40 under the fenders and mud flap and pledge on top surfaces of plastic. Spray rag, rub on and you are good to go with both products. The WD-40 is good because dirt, mud and oils will not stick to it and you just spray the area off when washing.

After the wash i am a HUGE fan of Maxima SC-1. it make the clean up next time easier and easier as time wears on. Its kind of spendy $11.99 a can here. But it works way better than anything else. WD40 leaves a mess!

I was trying to find the Simple Green Motorsports Cleaner and Could not find it anywhere but the Simple Green online store and you had to pay $13 shipping for a $6 bottle of cleaner. I contacted them and here is the response. Very Helpful...

"Simple Green Motorsports Cleaner is primarily available online and I have no locations near you that carry that particular product. We do offer a concentrate version of the cleaning formula that can be purchased at Home Depot called Simple Green Pro HD. The Motorsports Cleaner is a ready to use version of the formula in a 25% solution. If you mix 1 part Pro HD and 3 parts water, you’ll have the same solution as Motorsports. "

BTW I used it today and it worked great.

Mean Green appears to be a light version of Simple Green HD. Any would work fine, I wouldn't buy the Motorsports, waste of money.
