• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I had a little problem with my TE-610 when I started to check my valves. That problem was that I broke off the high pressure FI elbow that is mounted to the baseplate on the fuel tank that holds the PUMP/FILTER, and pickups.

I was able to locate a new OEM replacement and in the interium, I decided to check every external nut and bolt on the bike. This was a good thing as I found:

Loose upper motor mount bolts-- Which cured my RPM dependant vibration

Loose clamps on the throttle body----Which cured a hesitaion simular to a symptom of a bog with the accelerator pump. It also cured my decel pop. Mind you I do have a vince can and had the dealer retune -remap the ECU, but the pop was still there on occasion. Dan at Motoexotica did a top notch job, and in no way was the pop a result of what he did.

I also decided to check out my steering stem bearings. To my suprise, the outer reatiner on the bearing is plastic. There was lots of white grease, so I cleaned them, lubed them and reinstalled them. I was not however able to fix my steering stem lock

Shameless plug: I also had Cliff at RPS in Shingle Springs, Ca revalve the forks. Even though I did not have the external compression adjusters added, this thing is like it is on rails. I use to bottom the front tire on the fender on a high speed ashpalt turn, not anymore. It also does not have that nasty rebound. Once again, I told him what I wanted, and got exactly what I wanted.

I had the time to remove my wheel bearings as the bike was getting new tires installed. To my suprize, there was little to no grease in the suckers. Getting the seal off the bearings was a real treat. So after a cleaning, and re-lube, the bike rolls much better. This would be top priority to check out.

The timing chain adjuster was only out 5 clicks. Valves were right in spec. I think next time I am going to use better gaskets as one of the gaskets were leaking...

Next the swing arm.... No time to do that, but I did remove the shock and checked to play and ease of movement. Spot on as far as that goes. Mabey I will tear down the rear next....
