• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Okay, that price is just insane. There's no way that can be the standard retail price. Sounds like someone is trying to make a buck off it because it's hard to come by, now. Not saying it's the dealer where you're working, but somewhere along the line.

I sure hope the BMW part works for you. Even at $241 it seems crazy expensive for what it is.

OGRE, you're the winner, you found the Husky part AND the BMW part they are considering. I will take the plunge on the BMW part, just because I'm cheap that way. Here's hoping that the pins/plug are identical...

It is a no brainer, I would bet $$$ they will be identical.
Just look at the 'electrical' connectors all over the bike, almost every one of them has 'BMW' logo.
I consider BMW OEM Parts to be often over priced, but Husky is taking the p*ss at $1000+ for this.

Bob have you got the part? Post a couple of pics so someone can advise about a possible repair.

No I do not have the part. The Husky dealer is 60 miles away from where I'm staying in California. They ordered the part from the BMW dealer across the street from their shop so it will be installed before I go down there again and hopefully the bike will be up and running.

I received a call from the Service Manager at 1630 PDT, last Saturday telling me the sensor relay was in the bike and it DID FIT correctly. They were going to button up the bike and take it for a test ride, but I doubt that happened since the shop was closing in 30 minutes. Anyway, I'm off to the train for a ride to San Diego. Here's hoping the bike runs as intended! I will update this post after I get the bike back.

Hope it fixes it and you get your bike back :D

Well the whole deal got put off a day. They thought there was another problem, but it was just a false reading. So the bike road-tested well today and I will try again tomorrow to get the bike back. Thanks again to all who recommended the BMW part. Even though it was $250.00, that is a whole lot better than the highway robbery price of $999.00 or $1300.00 USD I was quoted at first for the OEM Husqvarna pig tail sensor.

Update: 01July15- I got the red-headed step child back and rode it 60 miles at freeway speeds. No issues, so the sensor relay must have been causing all the headaches.
I might NEVER buy another Husky part, if I don't have to. The pricing is outrageous. For now, CASE CLOSED! (Edited after considering others' opinions).

I am very glad it seems to have worked out for you!

Don't be too quick to discount looking at Husky parts. I have found most of the Husky parts are actually cheaper than the BMW alternative. Be sure to check both before buying.
