• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Champion in Charleston?

Husqvarna
B Class
I am a soon to be Husky owner, looking at picking up a smr510 before the end of the year. Found this thread while doing my research. I live in Goose Creek, greater Charleston area, and have started dialogue with both Upstate Cycle and Champion in Charleston. Do any of you know anything about Champion's experience with the Husky brand? Thanks.

So Champion Honda, BMW, Ducati in Charleston SC also sells KTM and Husqvarna. Anyone here ever bought a Husky from them, or had one serviced there? They are the closest Husky dealer to my house. I've heard good things about Upstate Cycle in Greenville, about 3 hours from me. Just trying to gauge the competition. Thanks in advance for your input.

Welcome!

You posted in the kudos (only) section where peoples input on dealers can be recorded and not lost. I've move your post into the General forum where the general dealer discussions should go. :)

Welcome to the forum!

I looked at several dealers in the NC/SC/VA/TN area before I bought mine. From my experience with them, everything I heard was confirmed. Go with the dealer in Greenville. Also, I bought mine form the dealer in Wilmington, NC, which is about 4 hours north of you. They are pretty good too. The owners are brothers and one is the maintenence mngr. He is also a Husky FREAK! I know it's a long way, but it might be a better experience for you.

I bought my '06 Husky SM610 from the guys at Upstate Cycle in Greenville, SC. Love my bike and their service/parts reputation is as you have heard.

Thanks for the information.

Just placed my order with Upstate Cycle for a '09 SM510R. Should be here by the New Year!

You won't regret dealing with Gerald and Mike at Upstate. I've bought two bikes there and do mail order parts business with them as well. Awesome guys and a great "Mom and Pop" style atmosphere with no BS. Gerald bends over backwards to please his customers. He's actually called me from his personal cell on his days off to give me updates and info on orders etc. Great service with no BS... can't beat that.
