  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Chain

Husqvarna
A Class
So what kind of chain is everyone using for there 165? I got to replace my chain soon.

DID X-Ring. Talon or original front sprocket, original alloy or steel rear depending on gearing required.

DID x-ring also.

Although I currently have a Primary Drive x-ring (rockymountain in house brand) on there as I needed to replace my chain and the DID I ordered didn't show up before I had to leave for this weekends race.

I found OEM chain, Regina o-ring, on sale at either Bills or Halls for $60 last year and bought 2. That and Sunstar steel sprockets are what's on mine now

Weird I would of opted for the non o ring chain and boil waxed it after every ride.
Less friction so less drag on the drive train.
Would go o ring or w ring on 250+ as they cab handle a bit more Sap on the power.

I run an O ring chain on everything except my vintage bikes. They hardly make enough power to wear a chain anyway.

No O ring chain and light sprockets

O ring does suck power but not so much due to added friction (when they are new)
its a considerable weight difference and its a rotating weight one (gyroscopic effects)

As driving the motor bike is a hobby and with the status as a hobby is intermediately the term "cost money" accepted I have no issue to pay a little extra in the form of increased wear on this part of the bike.

it make a difference in throttle versus rear wheel response equals more smile :)

they do weigh a bit more..theres a reason mx riders use them..kind of like aluminum sprockets. ok for 125 class but on open class stuff, not really worth it.

how do you like the Sunstar sprockets??

The Sunstar sprockets are great, both front and rear. When I can I'll get something lighter for the 300 though. Found a deal on a JT kit, gold chain seems good, but the sprockets only lasted about 20 hours. I do check and lube my chain after every ride.
o ring or x ring. i hear stuff about both.

The oem chain is o-ring Regina, well made and lasts a long time if maintained. It is pretty heavy.

20 Hours  (that is not good at all)

I do more hours on a rear tire

Get supersprox rear and run renthal up front with reigna or isris chains, never had an issue.
Fronts wear out faster than rear on any set up as its doing roughly 3x the revolutions.
Seriously weight conscious arnt you ncSteve?
I can't see the point as within the first 10 mns of any moto all your weights savings are gone by being plastered in caked on mud.
Well in the uk any way.
