As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Does an 09' CR125 require a thin-width chain (like Honda 450R's do) or just a standard width 520 chain?
I need a new chain Guide too.
Later,
Shane has one sitting in a box in the garage, I doubt he would miss it...
Later,
Thanks!
I got a new 14T front if you're interested. I want a 13.
No way man I am not trying to set any land speed records...
I am really happy with my 13-52 gearing I have set up now. I have 2-3 slightly used 13's laying around from Shane and Kelly going to 12 tooth I think. Let me know if you need one.
Later,
I use D.I.D. narrow enduro racing x-ring chain on my wr150,it causes less drag and wear on the chain guide and has only required one adjustment since new approx. 400 off-road miles ago. Good stuffDoes an 09' CR125 require a thin-width chain (like Honda 450R's do) or just a standard width 520 chain?
14 /52 on my 165 was clocked at 65 mph on the dry lake be at the last National
I am with you, not too many dry lake beds in these tennessee mountains..... 125cc's are plenty. You really should put a smaller piston in that thing so it will rev higher, that way you can get the same top speed without having to gear it up.I did a 6th gear pull on my trail ride last week to test the JD jetting kit some more and came up with 64mph on the GPS... There was still a little more there but after blowing it up doing stuff like that I am a little worried about holding it tapped on gravel for that long. As you can see from the average speed on this ride I really don't need taller gearing.
I hit 69mph on the same GPS just before I blew it up a year and a half ago, I can't remember if that was 13-50 or 13-52 gearing though.

I have been running a KMC o-ring chain for 137.2 hours and about 1900 miles, I installed it a few weeks before I installed the trailtech GPS. I spray it with WD40 after every wash and have tossed some chain lube on it maybe 4 or 5 times. I am still on the stock front sprocket at 151.2 hours, damn these bikes are easy on drive components. I swap rear wheels and sprockets back and forth between bikes it is hard to get a good idea on rear sprocket wear. Having to change the front sprocket every 2 years is going to break the bank...
Later,
I use Maxima MPPL, or Moose Chain lube and sometimes I use Maxima Chain Wax . Mppl and Moose Chain lube (not the Heavy Duty) are very similar. Won't hurt Orings and dirt doesn't stick. If you use Chain Wax. Put on while chain is warm and then let sit overnight to dry and take set.I've been using the x-ring also. What kind of chain lube are you using?
