    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Livin' It Up!
My new windscreen came in today and I snapped a pic for general edification. It's just held up with my hand and will require some careful drilling to get it mounted. It's to fit a KTM and Baja kit headlight. I think the spacers supplied will probably work ok but I'll need some longer screws. They supply nylon breakaway fasteners but longer ones will be needed. Maybe my local hardware store will have them. The screen rises 7" plus a bit over the stock fairing, and I think that will be pretty good. BigDog's is a little higher I think. I will post up once it is on and I give it a test run. This screen is pretty nice and I think it would be fine on my TE630 too as long as the ride isn't too rough. For that, I prefer going naked up front.

looks like a decent size and match for the Terra. Look forward to seeing it mounted! Curious wether BigDog has a pic of his screen posted anywhere?
 
Front view please! Curious to see how it worked over the headlamp. Did you have to cut it or use any spacers?

I let it overlap just the top half inch or so of the headlamp, which doesn't affect anything. 'Used the spacers that came with the shield and they hold it just off of the plastic. I had to buy a few longer screws though. I'll post a front view tomorrow, after a short ride, rain permitting.
 
Just a little more, 7 1/4". It is solid although the screws loosened a bit on my ride. I probably had them a bit loose and will keep an eye on them for now. I think it looks good and it definitely will make road trips a lot more enjoyable. Chances are I will use my road helmet on this bike unless I'm doing a day of trails. Arai has a new 3/4 helmet out that includes a visor not so long as on the XD series and that might work well.
 
It just covers the top tip of the lens, where the small parking light resides. I didn't notice anything unusual with the headlight beam, but if I do, a little plastic could be trimmed easily.
 
looks like some nice coverage, is it up to par at freeway speeds, or do you feel it lacks something?
 
It is a small xcreen so I didn't expect the kind of wind protection I get on my R1200RT. I just wanted to break the wind in front of my body, and this one does, at least up to 70 mph. Your face is still in the wind. I wouldn't want anything much larger on this kind of bike. For the price, $57, how can you go wrong?
 
Is it possible to cut this thing clean any way ? I was thinking of cutting it to fit recess in original fairing...
 
Mario, cutting is easy with a reciprocating saw, or sabre saw. Use a fine tooth blade with a straight cut (not orbital), mask off both sides of the cut line to prevent scaring of the plastic, and go slow. Just sand the edges and flame if you want to. I wouldn't though as it requires a deft touch. That said, cutting to fit the recess would weaken the shield quite a bit I think, and decrease effectiveness. As is you have the full width of the lower shield to give strength. If you do it, let us see the final result!
 
Hey so it's been a few months how's that windshield holding up? You still like it. I am thinking of getting one for my bike.

Actually, Ken sold it to me and I have had it for about a month: solid product that moves the air off my chest and up to my helmet ( clean, no buffeting ). Ken had to get hardware and drill holes to make it work - I got the completed unit so my install was simple.

Based on the oem screens being available, priced similarly (I believe) and pre-drilled - that would be my recommendation.
