  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Case sizes.. Same or different?

Is the crank case from the 2009-2010 TE 310 (Athena/Cagiva not X-lite) a smaller unit than that of the same years 450-510?

Just by eye I cant see how a larger cylinder (450/510) and top end would fit on it - Does the 310 have the same case as the "old" 250 i.e. the 2009 TE 250 prior to the introduction of the x-lite.

I know the 310's main frame is the same as that of it's larger siblings, but what about the rest?

The old style 250 does share the bottom end of a 2004-10 style 450/510. The big difference is they machine the cases for different main bearings. Could be more differences, but I haven't noticed any.

I would believe the NON-Xlite 310 would be the same way, but I haven't looked at one..

Wondering if it would be theoretically possible to put a modded longer srtoke kit on it.

My 310 is no where near needing a rebuild, but I was just interested in the main sizes of all the "bits" if I were ever to look at it as a project.

Bearing seats can be resized but the alignment and overall clearances is what concerns me most.

down load the husky parts manual for both bikes and compare the bottom end part numbers etc etc, if the same part numbers then I would assume the up grade is a relatively simple case. A mate of mine ran an 09 510 and myself a 09 310, they also looked extremely similar but, there was a number of internal differences not including the more obvious top end.
