  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st Carb replacement between Mikuni TMX and Keihin PWK

I've noticed a few discussions about swapping the Mikuni TMX for a Keihin PWK carb. I tried some searches but did not find answers to the following questions:

1) Does the Keihin PWK Air Striker 38mm carb fit correctly with the existing OEM air boot and reed valve manifold? Any fitment issues that require custom spacers, modifications, etc.?

2) Any issues with mounting a PWK 36mm carb instead?

Thanks!

direct replacement on 08 wr 250.Absolutely no fitment issues.I used a 1999 cr 250(HONDA)throttle cable,although I don't think it's absolutely necessary.

Not on my WR250, put one on this winter. Still waiting to ride the bike with it though.

I have a 38mm PWK AS on my Wr360 and have had no issues. I must add that l'm bias with Keihins cos thats what l'm use to but it has transferred the bike and jets, needles and slides are more common.
My last 360 has a TMX on it and l found that harder to tune than the Keihin but that maybe because of my knowledge of keihins.
Issues:
Had to use a throttle cable from a KTM300.
Boots all fit.
Using a 36mm instead of 38mm, the only issue is the 2mm restriction which will effect your boot.

Thanks for the info guys!

How many are using the PWK on the CR/WR 125's?
Same consensus as the bigger bikes. :excuseme:

I just fitted a PWK 38 with JD jetting on my 09 WR125. Works great. Still sorting jetting a little but a lot less temperamental than the Mikuni and runs better off the bottom, better starting, smoother response. We will be selling these kits at Motosportz soon with info for the 125 and 250. It's good stuff.

Hey Matt,

You sould go to JDjetting.com

Order the Keihin 38mm air striker, it comes jetted for your bike and comes with J.D.`s custom needles that are not GAY.

Then order the power now plus (front and back inserts) and you will be TOTALLY AMAZED!

USING THE SCARYFAST.COM INSERTS WILL GIVE YOU A .78MM SMALLER BORE SIZE GIVING YOU THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, KILLER LOW END AND EYE BLEEDING TOP.
You will think that you put a 144cc kit in it.

Let me know how it works for you, and the carb with jetting kit is only $239 Bangin deal:thumbsup:
Shalom

Then it`s really going to rock!

Got your PM Nimiz,
Just tell J.D. what year, make and motor size and he will custom design a jetting kit just for you.
All for just $239 with new carb

Rancher you are correct we have the JD jetted carbs in stock and Kelly has added them to the website for easy ordering, and you save 5$.

Ya, but you dont get J.D. personally providing you with the proper jets for your application.

I.E. i have a 430cc husky vs a Husky144cc

That $5 is the price of one main and you will be supporting a guy who has made his lifes work jetting carbs.

Sorry woods
Tochchey (spelling)

Actually we can get the carbs from JD spec'd to whatever you like and they still come with a spare JD needle and a few alternate jets. We buy our carbs from JD he is still making money on them as well. Just thought you would like to know.

I finally got around to installing the PWK 38 on my 300 last night. Bolts right on, but the stock throttle cable is a little too long. I'll have to route it outside the number plate and hope it takes up the slack. Other than that it fits perfect.

178mj, 45pj and whatever needle it came with(its a new carb from a 2000 CR250) #2 slot. Fires right up, idles perfect and feels more crisp and willing to rev vs. the TMX it replaces. Will have a full ride report after this weekend.
