  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Carb / Reed boot Factory issue-Bad factory install??

Husqvarna
B Class
Hello.

My bike is BRAND NEW 2012 WR 300. I've actually never even started it yet.
I've been busy and now have installed the lights and trip speedo, and I figured I'd pull the carb and check the installed jets and needle position. 420 main, 45 pilot and middle clip on GAY needle.
I might do some changes as my elevation in 1500' and this is for 2500' according to the Husky charts.

Any ways it looks like the factory had jammed some of the boot and it actually folded over on its self, you'll see in the pics that it could have become an issue as the clamp is kinda in free air for approx 1/2" or more-- this could have made for a place for air and dirt to come in.

I'll send the pics to the dealer I purchased it from and see what happens.
But being that I got the bike only six days ago I hope they don't play games!!

Maybe this has caused a few other to have a lean condition and cause a seize up.

Let me know what you guys think.

Not good. I'd do the same. Approach your dealer, if they are don't help then at least no damage done and it does look salvageable, but will have an unnatural relaxed position which you will have to be careful with every carb removal/refit.

:eek:definatly not right, well spotted and thank god you didnt go for a desert ride with it like that you know feel the box freash ride...:thumbsup:on finding it and checking carb set up

Wow, good find.
Wonder how many top end warrantys it would take for that installers job to be in jeapordy.
Were the reeds sealed properly?

Yeah I'll for sure be replacing this---Even if it's at my cost. Hopefully since the bike is only six days old and has never been run it'll be a no issue.
Also I'm up in BC Canada and the snow will be on the ground for 2 more months id say, so it wont be not to hard to wait for a replacement.
I was going to check the reed seal as well, but figured I'll wait and do it all once I replace the boot, But maybe I'll do it today-this way I can get both parts at the same time if needed.
It's been good to tear down the bike from brand new, This way I'll know and feel comfortable if something goes wrong in the bush one day, It's a great way to know the bike.

Thanks for the reply's guy!IMG_1118.JPGIMG_1119.JPG

looking at you bike sans plastic, boy does that look like my 360's
guess why change what works
my what big radiators you have ;)

I'd put it back together with that boot and run it. A few heat cycles and it'll probably be back to the proper shape. Just keep an eye on it!

Husky really needs to improve their assembly quality. I had issues with my new TXC and WR and I don't think it is uncommon to find extra parts stuck to your oil drain plug, loose parts, grips that fall off, etc.

Italians celebrate weekends during the week right? Or Mondays are on a rotational schedule at the old MV Augusta plants?

Maybe ill try to warm to boot with a heat gun and try to re-shape it back to new.
But I'll still try to get a new one out the stealer, that way maybe this will get back to Husky and they'll keep an eye on the assembly line!
