  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

carb problem with TE 450 2004. To rich mixture

Oli Stef

Husqvarna
Hi, I live in Iceland and I have a TE 450 2004. I have had it for 3 years, and all that time I have had problems with the fuel mixture. The spark plug is always black and black smoke comes from the pipe. I managed to use the bike for the last summers by lowering the pin in the carburetor in the lowest position and took the plastic ring that was under the e splint and but it on top. Then I screwed the mixture screw all in and 1/2 turn out (in stead of 1 3/4). The bike runs now but stalls a lot and burns a lot of fuel (50% more than the other bikes). I already check the valves. All the jets in the carb are like the manual say. I put a new o ring in the acc. pump and noting works.

Which carb is it? Mine (2007) has the kiehin FCR and the pilot jet (#48) was way too fat changed to a #42 and my main is a 200 with needle clip on 2nd position (from top). Runs great but pops alot on deceleration. The current set up favors hot temps, as when it's cool (+12'C) it's hard to get started.

I have the same problem with my 04 TC 450. The main jet is 167,5 (new), the needle J8-10E01-52(it's a little worn). When screwing the mixture screw down full, the engine dind't stop, but it should. And it running better when it fully screwed down. What can cause the problem? Maybe the wron needle, or what else?
