• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi all, I am cleaning up my 1972 450 WR for a local car show. I have been looking for information about my model without much success. Can anyone either supply the interesting details about my model, or point me to a good source for that type of info. I'm trying to put together an information board for display during the show. Thanks for any help!! Terry

Half way down the page of this Husky Club web page is a bit of info about the 1972. http://www.huskyclub.com/vinthus.htm

Heres what it says.

1972 was a new era for Husqvarna motorcycles. The entire series of motocross, desert, enduro bikes had been upgraded to a new generation of engines with 5 speed transmissions, lefthand shift, new low engine frames, introduction of the 450cc motocross and cross country and also the 125ccCR motocross (6 speed), Motoplat ignitions and more. This frame series was MJ and all models had the alloy fenders front and rear. The "hand grenade" muffler was standard on all models as well as the silver leg front forks. The WR models retained the Femsa ignition to allow for easy lighting installation. Husqvarna continued to dominate all forms of off road racing, most notably in world class motocross, desert events, and enduro. The list of expert winners was spectacular and included Heikki Mikkola, Arne Kring, Bengt Åberg as well as US stars Malcolm Smith, Dick Burleson, Ron Bohn, Jake Fischer, Ed Schimdt, Dave Mungenast, JN Roberts, Mark Blackwell, Jim West, Bob Grossi, + many others.

Thank you very much. I've been hoping to find something like this. I'll post photos of the bike at the car show. I'm using my old Brad Lackey boots as a stand for the information board. Should get some points from the judges. ;)

The show was great. I had lots of comments about the motorcycle. Many talked about having Husky's when they were younger. No trophy today, but still fun talking to other motorcyclists. Now I'm going to peel those new fenders back off and put on plastic and get it out on the trail.

Thanks for the photo and glad you had a good time showing off your 450.

Looks like you have a reed block on the intake. Do you have any experience running it with a stock intake to tell if the reed makes a difference anywhere on the RPM curve?

Nice display for the show, I put my 1970 400 Cross in a show a couple of years ago. It was a refreshing change from all the cruiser bikes. All about showing something you're proud of.
Crashaholic, nice catch on the reed block.
