  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Cant seem to get my clutch to work properly

Dwahl

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hey guys,

I have been trying for a little while now and I can get it to feel right, but it wont disengage the first time you pull the lever in. I have to hold the lever in and push the bike backwards to get it to disengage. It worked fine untill I took it apart ( you know how it is) and no matter what I cant seem to get it to work properly, is it the plates?

any comments or ideas welcome,

Thanks,

Daniel

Does any one know where I can get a new slave cylinder, I took it off to check if any debre was in there and my friend pulled the clutch in.

Did you put the plates back into the cage in the proper order? A friction plate goes in first, followed by a steel plate, then another frivtion plate, etc. Below is the section of the manual that covers reassembly.

Also, be sure to replace that friend. Sometimes they are defective.

Clutch discs replacement (TC-TE-TXC-SMR)
This operation can be carried out by laying the motorcycle on the left side without
draining the engine oil. Remove the five fastening screws (1) and the
clutch cover (if necessary, lower the rear brake control pedal). Use a 5 mm allen
wrench to loosen the six screws (2) that fasten clutch springs. Remove springs,
pressure plate (3) complete with bearing and clutch control rod (4). Extract the
discs (5), lubricate the new discs with engine oil then assemble the new discs (first
always mount a lined disc). Reassemble pressure plate and springs. Tighten the
clutch springs bolts whilst following a cross-over pattern and in steps (8 Nm-0,8
Kgm- 5.8 ft/lb). Reassemble the clutch cover (8 Nm-0,8 Kgm- 5.8 ft/lb).

you shouldn't have to replace it from that, I may be wrong as I haven't spent much time working on huskies, but it should just push back.
have you checked that the clutch fluid is ok?? even a tiny bit of air in the system can make a difference.

Well the end of the cylinder kinda exploded becuase theres a snap which contains the puck and when you take the slave cylinder off the bike and pull the clutch it forces the puck out and blows off the end. Sweet engineering. And I havent taken my clutch out in my bike. I bought the billet slave cylinder i hope that and a little more effort to get the air out will fix this.

thanks guys.

Another thing to check is the clutch springs (they're cheap.) After removing and reinstalling the pressure plate on my '07 SMR, the clutch would not disengage properly. After measuring the springs with a caliper I found 4 of them had compressed .010-020" compared to the other 2.

I just installed a ZipTye slave and it's working great. I did find that the stock piston/o-ring works, as an aftermarket one I had did not. Also when you are bleeding from the bottom, push the fluid in and then pull back slowly on the syringe every so often. I was amazed at all the bubbles I kept pulling through...it took quite a while. Good luck and keep us updated.

I just installed my my zip ty slave today and I guess I didnt get all the bubbles. Just have to work a bit harder at it. I used the aftermarket o-ring and it seems to be holding. I will also check my clutch.

Thanks.
