  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Can't reinstall manual decomp lever - 2010 SMR 510

Federale

Husqvarna
Hey Guys

Just did my first valve check on my SMR. I stupidly removed the decomp lever on the right side of the engine just under the valve cover. for whatever reason it absolutely will not go back in. Its driving me completely nuts...ive tried rotating it, tapping lightly with a hammer....nothing will put this thing back into place...

Any help would be appreciated...its the only thing preventing me from getting the bike back on the road...

Thanks

PS - pic for reference, its the lever that goes where he blocked off with a red cap

Was the red rocker cover off when you were trying to get the shaft back in? Was the shaft hitting the little ear on the rocker arm? Did you retrieve the little spring that returns the decomp shaft to position?

hey man, I have some experience with the decomp valve. I accidentally pulled mine out so I shit a brick, but got it back in easily with the help of a magnet.
It only goes in "half an inch" or so because there is a pin that holds it in, stopping it from going back to where it belongs. What i did was:

with the valve cover off, get a strong magnet and use it to raise the pin so you can slide the shaft back into hole where it belongs, then drop pin back into hole. The oin has no springs or retainer that I am aware of, either gravity or a tab on the valve cover retain it, not sure which.

Good luck! if you haven't figured it out...
