We (Motosportz) sell a good amount of goods to our friends in Canada. I have orders sitting here as there is some sort of strike at Canadian postal. Anyone know the details, when this is going to end or anything? Thanks.
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Dont ship anything to Canada via USPS. Canada Post is on strike.
And on top of that, UPS will often charge us ridiculous brokerage fees on top of the shipping cost.that was my point of this thread. Every other method is to much $$$

Have you tried FedEx? - they fairly reasonable and much better than UPS.
The postal workers strike will be a while longer, the opposition party being more 'socialistic' will want to review the legislation thoroughly before parliament forces the workers back to work - id say about another week to 10 days. Sorry about the BS up here.
Not to get into it, but this isn't exactly true. Many of the workers didn't want to strike, but the ego-headed union leaders forced rolling strikes thru-out the system. The package offered by CP was reasonable and the union leaders kept refusing, so they got locked out. Don't blame Harper, or CP, or most of the workers. The union leaders are the ones that bear the blame in this one. The gov't got involved because the mail is deemed an essential service.MP's sat through the night and will continue until back to work order is passed. They do have a majority so it will pass. But they created a problem as if workers are legislated back to work their settlement will be less than what was offered by Can. Post. Basicly they want to offer new employees less than they get now and they want to change pensions from defined benefit to defined contribution. Also the workers are not on strike, they were locked out. Basicly the government is not obeying the law. Heil Harper!
Just read that mail service will resume early this coming week. Legislation has been passed.![]()
