  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hello everyone first post on here, my names Gary , ive just bought a 2009 TE250 and am wanting to do an oil / filter change , the manual states 10w/60 , will using 10w/40 shell advance 4T fully synthetic cause any problems , I can get the 10w/40 for £25 for 4 litres, the 10w/60 is around £49

once again hello and thenk you in advance for your replies:)

Yes you can run 0W40, 5W40 or 10W40 and your engine bearings will actually run a little cooler. Look around for Shell Helix if it is available, usually in 5W40. (0W40 is the preferred grade currently at our shop).

Been going to change from Motul to Castrol engine oil as Motul is a bit hard to get in the town were I live. Know that in the manual for te250 2011 they recommend 10w50 Castrol but can not buy in Australia so told not imported for some reason unknown. So does anyone use a Castrol that they recommend.

I use Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 5W40 in my KLR. Shifting is butter smooth. Better than the Mobile 1 Synthetic Motorcycle Specific Oil. A lot of KLR guys swear by it. And it's cheap. In my TE511 I'm using the Mobile 1 European Car Formula 0W40 mentioned above. Seems pretty good.

I've been running Amsoil 10w40 motorcycle oil in my 07 SM610 for the last 50,000 of it's 54,000 miles. I'm running Amsoil Powersport 0w40 in my 10 TXC250.

I have used Motul Full Synth 10w40 on my 310, our motors are identical apart from ~50mm bore. I have foud the oil to be excellent.

Got Penrite 5w-40 full synthetic in shed been using it in the young sons quad don't know weather to give it a go or not. Does anyone use Penrite oils in there bikes.

Changed to Penrite 5w-40 hope will be ok. Thanks Tinken for the confidence to try it mate, still a bit concerned about the change?

I like Penrite 5W40, they have some new versions out too like enviro and everyday plus. The enviro is very similar to M1.
