• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

buying a used husky

Husqvarna
hey guys, im planning on buying a used husqvarna te449, its a 2012 model with approx 3000ks on it. the seller is going to get a service and a roadworthy cert done. im just wondering what things should i look for on the bike regarding condition of the frame and other parts, and mechanically. also just wanting to know what are the more common issues with these bikes, if any, as this is the first enduro bike and husqvarna i have ever purchased, not to mention a used one, i do not want to be getting shafted on something that would have been easy to avoid.

i thought this would be the best place to get answers, feel free to pm me or reply on this thread, any and all help would be greatly appreciated

thankyou in advance :)

Welcome aboard and I'd say good idea on the bike plus you are at the right spot for answers to these questions :)

Its a fun and capable bike, especially for a dual-sport. I would recomend that you utilize the search on this forum and just type in key words such as TE449 TE511 mods, etc. Stuff like that. There is a wealth of knowledge and information on this platform here and many tested and proved upgrades to be found.

Go into the 4 stroke section and there is a sticky topic on the common mods. Most everyone does a power up and there are a few ways to get it done. Another issue is oil in the air box. There's a $30 fix from Zip Ty and then also a full kit, not sure on the price though.

Start here. Its a very good bike that can very easily be made into a great bike.
Power up jumper and Map set 3 and the oil vent are must do's...which will cost you about $100.
