  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Burning Oil...how much is too much?

Husqvarna
AA Class
2013 TXC310R. Bike has approx. 30 hours (give or take). After a recent ride (4 hours), I had to top off 125ml of oil. I don't see any leaks and none in the intake, so I assume it is burning oil. Dealer says some burning oil is normal.

I believe 125ml is about 10% of the bikes overall capacity. Is this normal or within range? Seems kind of high.

All these thumpers turn a ton of oil into vapor/mist which is recirc. through the intake usually. Also depends on how many rings your bike has on the piston for oil consumption. My new 511 has some oily residue on the exhaust but it has lessened as I used it.

I have 2 010 TC250s ... One has gotten rid of oil since I acquired it at ~50 hrs ... It's gotten a little worst now at ~240 hrs and the oil needs to be checked before each riding day ... Not sure if it is burning the oil or what; Never see any blue smoke; Never checked the plug either yet :( ... The oil volume just drops in the sight gauge ... I have rings, I'm just too lazy to put them in just yet and let it ~sit while I ride one of my other Huskies..

My second TC250, 180 hrs get rid of ZERO oil ... This bike feels a little stronger than the other but I doubt this different feeling actually adds up to much real difference in power ..

So I don't know what is happening ... I'm just gonna keep riding :) ... Contrary to so many here, I have confidence in my Husqvarna motorcycles and have yet to be let down by any Husky I own now or in the past.

Good luck with your bike and your riding.
