• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Building another XC

86 400 XC

Husqvarna
Pro Class
I needed a 85 something, so why not a 500.
I had a 85 roller XC (400) and been collecting/hoarding parts for ever.
So going all out on another bike, full rebuild and resto.
Even have NOS plastic stuff for it.
I bought cases, cylinder and pipe, i had the crank. Doing it for a fall break in ride on the mountains.

15 tooth front.....that thing will have some legs!

No not really, remember i was saying...
I swapped the primary drive to a 86 500 CR and thats slows the gears down. So big front and drop the rear some on the sprockets to achieve 90ish mph for single track :D

Lots of great stuff going on with these bikes over on FB
Just not over here oldbikedude

Cool bike from the left kicker club pics.

Oops, I'd forgotten that you changed the primary drive ratio!

Its over 1100 members ;)
There is post about getting Clark tanks to make some 85/86 tanks.
A min order of 100 for each style, CR and XC.
Looks to be tons of interested members so far in the group.
So nice to have so many enthusiast for a small era of bikes.

Steve

im glad you put this up on hete Steve as i find it so much better than fb for actually looking at stuff. for some reason, i continually get interrupted on fb with all sorts of "white noise" ...Fb is like the main room notice board and cafe husk is the library where you can dig right in...

Agreed JC, Facebook has it's uses but for a digest of information this is awesome. Even if the search function doesn't always work as expected, the info is here, looking up old info on FB can be a chore.
