• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Buddy bikes, anyone?

Hi guys, I've been thinking about this a little bit and thought I would throw it out there... I have two bikes (Husky TE250 and WR144 in Oregon, but the weather stinks here right now, so I would love to go somewhere where it's dry to ride. Maybe someone out there would like to ride in Oregon when the weather gets a little better? I work for an airline, so I can travel for free...I might also be able to help with cheap travel for someone else to come here.
I'm wondering if anyone might be interested in a ride share deal... We each host a ride in our home area, sharing buddy bikes? Right now, my best days to ride are beginning of the week, but that might change. I'm not one to get uptight about little things, but if I were to break something on your bike, I would naturally assume that I would take care of it. I am 39 and have been riding for a while, but am probably a slow intermediate in terms of pace.
What do you guys think?

You can always look into bike rentals. Just outside Colorado Springs you can rent a Husky 250, 310, and 449 for about 100 per day. Not sure what the plans are. I'd let you borrow one but am bike less for now

R-J,
Cambodia might take a bit of planning to pull off, but it could be done I suppose!
My inspiration came actually from meeting some of the CH members at the NW gathering recently and being blown away by how generous and friendly folks were (whom I didn't even know.) With resources and riding areas getting cut like they are, I am all for riders banding together, sharing resources and making new friends.

well here in Cambodia its still riders utopia the the only cutting that happens here are the trees in the riding area it self.

besides that its truly a nice place to ride.

not that many husky s here as far as I know (there Are only 3 in the country) and I have one of them (the only 125)

so it would be a different bike to adventure on but still its the trail that makes it interesting the bike helps it only to take it easier and/or faster

so probably a downgrade on the bike department but an unique experience.

sounds great, we are planning a 4 day trip to st. george and mesquite from the 19th to the 22nd. i can bring an extra husky if you can swing it. most of the time we will be track riding but one day for sure it is free ride time out in the desert. we have to get away from the sub-artic temps in montana.

Dry in SoCa. I try and ride every weekend when possible. I have a spare DR650 if your ever out in the Palm Springs area?

Planned Events in So Ca. Could be fun to visit one of these events. I Have plans for - 2/23 and 3/23 rides if all goes well.

Hi Rappster, that sounds like a lot of fun. I wouldn't be able to get there until Mon afternoon. Not sure how much you plan to ride on Tuesday or if it would be worth bringing an extra bike just for that?

Thanks for the great suggestions! I have great memories of Palm Springs having spent some time at 29 Palms years ago :-) I am having difficulty getting weekends off right now, otherwise I would definitely take you up on that!

PM me if so so we can exchange info. my ultimate beter half has a nephew who lives in St. George and there is a state park with dunes and all kinds of great dirt just waiting for fun that he is guiding us to****************************************

Thanks man, unfortunately I don't think it will be doable for me this time. I work Sunday night, so it would be a stretch to even ride on Monday without getting some rest first. I do appreciate the offer though. Have a great time!

Great idea ... Its just hard to always make things work out on these scales due to the cost of these type things and the fact that most people lives restrict their time ...

I was in the PNW (WA) for 12 yrs or so and I understand the weather there ... Great riding when the weather good ... But just not enough good riding days ... GPNF is great riding but short season and a long drive ... I talk to my buddy who is still back there and he's waiting out till late spring so he can ride again ...

Myself, I'm trying to promote some good times for the riders in the states as from here, (all I see on the web is gloom and doom printed on the states and I think it is sad and BS) , show them what a great dirt bike riding place the Philippines is, how great the Filipino people are, and show them that the Philippines has not forgotten what the USA did for their country 69 yrs ago ... This event happens every yr here and this yr I'm making the trek over on my Husky to see it first hand ...

Can't guarantee it won't rain but rain does not matter here as it is warm rain ... Usually no thunder so many times, I ride through the rain ...I like riding right after a rain here as the creeks are full ...

Good luck with your riding ...

Thanks for the reply and for the offer, Ray-Ray. It's great to see folks who prove their words. I'm sure your bikes will be fully booked for this great opportunity. Depending on what happens this summer as far as my work, I may be one jumping at the chance myself. Have a great day!

Come on down to Napa (probably Sacramento airport)... have an old TE250 & TR650. Not a lot of riding here yet, but truly epic dual sport area.

65F sunny & dry yesterday when we went ridding.

Coffee,
it was a ride on your 250 that inspired me to go and buy my own. It was perfectly dialed I thought...I'm still trying to get mine to feel the same in suspension and ergos.

The bike was definitely not dialed in. It was jetted for my location and typical weather, at the bend event it had a lot less power.
If it were me I would contact Les here: http://www.lt-racing.com
John Curea at East Coast suspension did my suspension, which was much much better than stock, but in my humble opinion, not even close to the work Les does (after riding several of Les re-worked bikes)

Regardless, let me know if you want to escape the Pacific North Wet for a little while, let me know.

Where in Oregon? It's getting nicer. I wouldn't mind heading over towards Tillamook and the stuff they have out there sometime. You work for Horizon in pdx?
