  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

IMG_20130816_201041.jpg i bought the bike as a factory demo last spring the second day i had it i broke the kick start shaft.... so far i have gone thru 3 shafts any one els having the same problem??? the dealer sais its a known problem

Some of the bike had bad auto decomps that lead to your problem. I would replace it before the next lever.

well the thing is i have gone thrue 3 of them in 4 monthes ... and they have put the newest ones they have in the bike so what do i replace it with?

I think he is trying to say the problem is the auto decompression. Is the bike hard to kick?

its brutal, i wont even try without mx boots on, when she kicks back it feels like i broke my foot

It shouldn't be hard to kick. you need to pull the valve cover and check the decompression mechanism. Maybe a broken spring.
My 2012 is easy to kick.

every time she broke i took her to the shop they cheaked it all... apparently there is nothing rong with it... so they say but i beg to differ... if i brake another one im gonna sell it

+1 You should easily be able to turn it over by hand. Almost start it by hand. Check your valve clearance and auto decompression mechanism. Obviously the shop either isn't doing this or they don't know how.

My 2013 had same issue. Decompression stuck. 3 months now waiting for a new shaft. Husky customer support ignoring me. Current management/owners suck. I've owned 11 husky in 10 years and getting this kind of service****************************************

well every time mine broke i took her in it was under worenty... but they have been pretty good for parts they took the shaft off a brand new bike in the showroom... but they finaley instaled the *newer stronger* shaft... so we will see but have they done anythng for your decompresion?

i see you have a fmf on your bike... does it do much towards performance... and witch one did ya get?

That's my 2008 450. Yes; I love the FMF pipe along with high comp. CP piston. Running low on funds to put one on my 250 right now.
