  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hello all, I recently purchased my first Husky at an auction. It's a 2012 Te511 with 19k miles.

I don't know when the last tune ups of any kind were done. So I will change the oil, the coolant looks fine. Anything else Recommended?

Also,

When its in neutral and the clutch is out it makes a rapid knocking noise, when I pull in the clutch that sound goes away. A friend said that was normal. Just thought I'd ask the pros!

I heard the valves should be adjusted every 5k. How can you tell if it needs to be done?

Thanks for your time! Hope all is well. Excited about riding

That's normal on the clutch noise. ZipTy racing has done the most in terms of support and mods for these bikes. Start here and read on:

Download the factory manual here, it goes over the valve check procedure and the other important stuff.

Welcome to the forum!

Thank you so much!! This is very helpful and I greatly appreciate it!!

Loving my Husky and this forum.

I have the smr511. I'd say if you don't have the Zipty breather mod and oil recirc kit, you should get both if you plan on a lot of wide open throttle riding.

Oh, yeah. BELIEVE it. Yes, it's car oil, yes it's been thoroughly tested, and here's the best part. It's CHEAP! I just picked up an extra 5 qt. jug last week from Wal-Mart for $23.88.

Also if you are on FB these guys have done a fantastic job of listing stuff and active group...
