  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Bottom Shock Bearing

Freaky

Husqvarna
AA Class
Stripped the swingarm and linkage down for cleaning and greasing the other day, the bottom shock bearing is worn and needs replacing, I only seem to be able to find a complete kit for the linkage when I just need the one bearing, any ideas folks?

Its for a 2010 TE250.

Thanks Trevor.

You can always order OEM. Or, if you have a bearing distributor in your area, you can take the old bearing in and have them find you a replacement. For what it's worth, I just did the linkage and shock bearings with an All Balls kit, and their lower shock replacement bearing was a spherical bearing, rather than the OEM needle bearing (which had completely self-destructed, by the way).

I just did the same thing to my suspension recently and motosportz had everything I needed to the door in 2 days. Call or e-mail Mike or Kelly.

Knock the bearing out and take it to a bearing place, I did mine a couple of weeks ago and it cost me (In OZ that is) about $8 for the bearing. If the shaft/bush is shagged, you will have to get a genuine one (I got one from Halls for about $12)

Thanks for the input guys. I struggeled to find a pattern supplier to guarantee fitment, they list TE250 08-10 but not 10 onwards so couldn't be sure of correct fit.
Rang two local Husky dealers, won't name but one didn't call me back and the other didn't seem interested, called Huskysport who are miles away and answered, had parts in stock and shipped out today, reasonable price too, they have my business from now on.

These lower bearings will last over 1000 hrs if you keep them well greased. To do that, you need to either disassemble them & manually clean & grease them frequently, or fit a grease fitting to the lower rocker & modify the bearing to accept grease from a zerk at this pivot point & keep it pumped full(a couple squirts every 2-3 rides). This is what I've done on one of my bikes and it is really the only proper solution.
Not a fan of the Synergy bearings or the Allballs spherical bearings as they don't work any better than the needle bearings & don't solve any of the inherent issues with the stock setup(missing grease zerks).
Needle bearings will hardly wear at all when lubed constantly & kept free of dirt & water, whereas solid bearings will still wear out, even when lubed.
