• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Black Cold Start/ Red Hot Start. (Keihin F.I. models)

robertaccio

Husqvarna
Pro Class
F.I. Gurus, on my TXC310R Keihin F.I. injected machine. What exactly does this knobcontrol. Black knob is cold start and has clickers for screw adjustments (cold start fuel enrichment and idle adjustment?) I ask because she was having lots of decel popping so from where it was I went 5 turns CCW and it was same or even a little worse. Then I went 5 turns CW and she got better I eventually added 2 more turns in CW, Idle seem low but she doesnt stall ( I like running a little higher idle for off throttle cornering and rear brake sliding) and the popping is very minimal. I did re torque my exhaust flange screws and checked my intake manifold for air leaks, seems good.

I thought the red push pull knob was eliminated on the 2013 Keihin FI models?
I don't have one on mine... ???

i don't have a red knob on the throttle body on my 2013 txc310r, just looked - it appears there is a place on the throttle body just above the black knob that one could go, but no knob.....maybe zip tie hooked you up with some extras??? it is also likely, based on the non existent torque values used to assemble my entire bike, that it came loose on the 1st or 2nd ride, fell off, and i never knew i was supposed to have one.

sorry all Im getting my mind mixed up, I was just working on my ex-TXC450 with the Keihin FCR41 and had that red hot start knob in my head.

So back on topic the black knob cold start and clicker idle adjust? Keihin F.I. 2013 TXC310R model.
34 clicks out from fully in for a start 1950rpm ide speed is what the manual calls out. I will check where I'm at.

I haven't played with a Husky FI but ....

Typical Keihin FI on Japanese mxer's have the "choke knob" that also adjusts the idle. All it is, is an air bypass that lets more or less air around the throttle plate. On a cold engine, the coolant-temp sensor has already offset the fuel map richer, and pulling the knob gives it more air to go with the much richer fuel delivery and achieves the higher start-up idle needed with cold engine/engine oil. Your decel popping indicates lean fueling at 0% throttle, and you made it a little less lean by shutting down the bypass a bit. A little decal popping is really no big deal. If it doesn't stall, run it wherever you like it.

thanks Marc, I just checked my screw it was at 41 turns out even after I went in 7 from where it was originally so I was at 48 out. Its now at 34 OEM standard spec from the manual. next time I ride I'll see it works,,hooky on thursday maybe.....
