  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well I stopped by Toy Tech yesterday......And a 2011 WR 300 rode home with me! I tried to resist but in the end I caved and loaded her into the truck. I must say that I'm very happy with my new toy! What do I need to learn about these wonderful creatures?

What did u ride before? Whatever it was, u are going to love the ergonomics of the Husky! The added plus of the engine is just a bonus! Enjoy.

Should be SWEET.

I can only tell you what to do with it after I've ridden it for a few months so just drop it off with me! Somehow I don't think you will fall for that so CONGRATS and enjoy. I have a GasGas 300 and had a short ride on a KTM 300 but haven't had the pleasure of ridding a Husky 300 so post up your ride report. Like K said it should be sweet.

Be ready for a rocket ship. The Husky 300 is, by far, the strongest 300 motor on the market.

Thanks for the support guys! I hope to ride it soon. Currently waiting on rad. braces, skid plate, shark fin and pipe armor. Already got the hand guards installed. (Moose makes a great set for Magura bars) Is there anything else that I need to get for it? I already sealed the ignition cover vent and rerouted the carb vent hoses.

Check everything is tight, sprocket, spokes, suspension linkage and engine bolts. Several of these were slack on mine and I did loose an engine head steady bolt on the second ride. Fantastic bike I am sure you won't be disappointed!

I bought a used 2010 WR300 and I am unaware of the ignition vent cover modification and carb vent hose reroute, Can you let me know what possible problems these may cause if left to alone ? Enjoy your new Husky they are awsome machines. Thanks for the info.

I was told that the "vent" hole in the bottom of the ignition can cause more harm than good in wet conditions. I removed the cover and applied a dab of silicone to seal it up. I also ran the 2 vent hoses on the top of the carb up and under the gas tank. Also a prevention in deep water areas.

Yeah. I'm pretty excited to get out and ride this beast. I did a few heat cycles yesterday, but no real riding. I'm trying to wait untill I get all of my protective gear installed. The ups truck can't get here soon enough!

I live in the wettest environment possible and I've never messed with the ignition vent. And no problems in over 2 years of ownership.
I did buy a carb vent kit and re-route the breathers into the airbox though.

Water in the carb is no bueno!

Likewise, I have always been under the belief you will get condensation in there without the hole. Good to take it off from time to time if you ride in dust but never though of sealing the hole. Where did you read this needs to be done?

I was instructed to do it by a husky tech. I'm not saying that it has to be done. It's just something I did. I guess time will tell if it works!

I'm no expert, but what I've been told is that a hot motor and cold air can create condensation in the flywheel area and the weep hole is meant for that condensation to evaporate from.

Just like every other opinion on the internet... take it for what its worth!
