• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Bike cleaner for dirt bike

Lanotec is good stuff, just keep it away from the Kiwis ha ha.

Just be careful with the household cleaners on bikes & cars. A lot of them contain salts that aren't in automotive cleaners.

I spray the mud off with a power washer, I don't care if it's shiny, just needs to have any actual chunks of dirt removed. I end up working on my bike before/after basically every ride/race, so it needs to be clean enough to work on.

If I am selling a bike, or at the end of a season, I'll get in there with simple green and a brush to get it extra clean.

Simple Green makes a powersports cleaner that is hard to find. I emailed the company and was told that it is the same as Simple Green HD Cleaner. I mixed 3:1. t's purple in color and you can get it at Home Depot for about $12. And it doesn't etch the aluminum.

I clean old fashion way with sponge and hose. BUT when clean I use furniture polish to finalize the shine. Furniture polish is the best undiscovered secret out there for getting that shine back. Its cheap too

IMG_0621.JPG Gonna let you in on a little secret..La's Totally Awesome,is at some "Dollar" stores like Family Dollar,Dollar Tree, etc. 32 oz. refill bottle $2.00 ,64 oz. bottle= $3.00.Use it straight ,no water cleans the bike and dirty riding gear! I bought a high volume spray nozzle from Walmart for less than $2.00 and it fits right in the 32 oz. refill bottle.THIS STUFF WORKS GREAT AND IS CHEAP!
If I have heavy mud on bike,I rinse off that with just water, wait several minutes to let some of the water air dry, spray Awesome on everything good, give it a minute or two to soak and just hose off-no dingy paint or stained collared rims!

Liquid laundry detergent + power washer --> Silicon spray metal parts, engine, etc. ---> more power washer.

I like shout, or Spray & wash. If my bikes disgustingly dirty. I'll plug up the exhaust & put a sprinkler underneath for a couple of hours to loosen the built up crud. Blast it of with a normal garden hose, then coat everything with Shout or Spray & wash it after about a 20 minute soak. Works awesome & available for cheap at many dollar stores.
Your results may vary.:thumbsup::cheers:

I ride mine length wise in the rocky creek for about 1/4 mile. If it's really dirty I ride it back up the creek a 1/4 mile. If it's really muddy and the creek is too deep I rinse it with the garden hose but If it needs some kind of repair that involves teardown I get it really clean before I put it in the garage. I did use ArmorAll wheel cleaner the other day to get the chain wax build up off my rear wheel... I had forgot I had black rims.

I hit the motor/nooks and crannys with spray nine (really similiar to simple green). Then rinse/brush everything I can with carwash soap/water.

Turns out pretty good. I don't get too fussy as I know its going to be covered in dirt again quite soon.
