  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Best pipe for 2014 CR144

Well Pro Circuit came through i guess saying they will special order me a pipe from the factory and when they send my stuff out this week it wil be in the box.

I feel the PC pipes are just OK and the FMF makes more power in my experience. All that said the Doma is my favorite but I like mid range.

I agree, they are dicks @ ProCircuit, but their stuff is good, and expensive. They act like if you're not a magazine guy or big name pro racer you're an idiot. I won't spend a dime with them for that reason.

Also, if you use the PC pipe you must use their silencer also. Not so with FMF.

Yeah i have no idea where their pipes are made, the service manager just said he put in a special order from where they are made and i will have it in the box with my motor. The link on the first page for the Pro Circuit pipe is for the 125 only and only up to 2012 as per the info that the ebay seller gave me when i asked. I am actually an FMF man but being that Pro Circuit said they tune their motors to their pipes for best results, i figured it would be a better match.

Also, if you use the PC pipe you must use their silencer also. Not so with FMF.

I am running the full Pro Circuit system on mine and love it. I can also fit the standard muffler onto the PC chamber without an issue. I think it may be more of a marketing ploy to get people to use their muffler instead of some other companies.

I have the same motor setup, Pro circuit porting package with the headmods for c12. Same setup a bunch of the pro's ran at the 2-stroke challenge highlighted in an above video. No new info here, I run the PC pipe and silencer. I run 13/51 gearing. I run +40a, +30a, +25a sometimes. I get great starts against the 450's most of the time. Jetting shouldn't be an issue, the offroad and woods guys gripe about the Mikuni, but it just isn't an issue for me. I lowered the float height 1mm and I did need to lean the pilot quite a bit after the porting (think I'm at a 35 in the summer? can't remember!), but once dialed in it carburets cleanly and stays consistent. I've never understood all the complaints and carb switching but we all use our bikes differently and they must have issues I don't run into, so decide for yourself how it works.

As for getting more power everywhere, don't dwell on it. Porting is always a tradeoff unless the motor was pathetic to begin with (it isn't). I gained topend with a more willing transition onto "the pipe", and the topend is more linear without the weird stock "dip" before it's final pull to overrev. I love it and my fellow +40 guys hate it! "I can hear you screaming that thing and know what's coming" "I never have to wonder who it is when you're on me" "How the hell did you holeshot on that thing?"

I had no issues with their customer service. But I had trouble understanding the guy past his accent!

Thanks for the info, yeah i don't mind the Mikuni at all being that's what Yamaha uses and i am use to dealing with it. Coming from an amateur motocross background jetting the 2 strokes is as easy as mixing the gas. I have been debating the gearing situation and may go down one on the front to hold the lower gears a little longer. It's funny you bring up your friends and hearing the 2 stroke, i've been racing my YZ144 with the big bikes for years and have never had a problem keeping up with the 450's, i love the look on their faces when the 2 stroke rips by them.

I bought a Scalavine pipe for my 125, it had HGS stamped on it? Anyway it cleaned up the mid to top, just fitted a 144 kit so if I notice a difference I'll post, but it'll be better as it has more cubes now

Ty Davis's CR125 uses a Pro Circuit piston and exhaust. It carries our ZipTy head, cylinder and crankshaft. 48mm Marzocchi Shiver front forks and Ohlins rear shock, all calibrated to ZipTy racing specifications.
