• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Best paint for exhaust pipe?

Dose anyone have any sugestions for the best black paint for an exhaust pipe.
I have a FMF pipe on a 74 250 Mag that was sprayed with some sort of clear that has gotten pretty ulgy, and I want to freshen it up. I can soda blast the pipe to get a good bond.

Yea I did some research on the site and think a inexpensive VHT may be the way to go, as I will be riding it. I believe a clear was put on the pipe new. It looked great then, now mud just sticks to it and it always looks dirty. Here is a new pic and after Mid Ohio 2013MAP Pictures 037.jpg74MAG.jpg 74MAG.jpg

I've made expansion chamber pipes for over 200 bikes and I never paint them. I install the pipe and let it get hot and wipe it with some sort of Vegetable based Salad oil. Seriously the mud doesn't stick and it will glaze over itself. Easy to scotchbrite and redo it when needed as well. It stops the rust and works everytime. Paint just makes it tacky and sticky to the mud. Why do you think the 2 stroke pipes most of the time nowadays are Nickel or Chrome plated?

Kal-guard! I use it on my cases also.Tough stuff, use the adhesion promoter.Gas has no effect on it.You can get gloss, satin or flat.

Scanning the tech posts, ( I'll be working on a '83 250CR I just bought in Jersey). Can you tell me what KalGuard paint your using ? Googled KalGuard and got a bit lost in the info. Thanks, dave

There you go! It doesn't take a Mental Giant to figure this one out. Nickel doesn't cost that much either. Great protection, good looks, and no sticky, tacky surface.

price pipe by french boy is crazy
( pilot boy ):banghead:
this pipe 125=700 euros !!(us $ 800 !):confused::confused:
no my pipe and exhaust 125 = USA !
= $ us 250 + chipping = $us 50 !:D:D

Has anyone considered using Duracoat? It is meant for refinishing firearms so it's designed to take the heat.

I have sent the pipe out to be plated, "Zinc/Nickel" finish, which should come out a bronzey dark with iredesent shades of gold. I will post pics when done. This is a finish that is used on undercarriage parts on trucks and equipment. The bike has gold wheels and wanted a dark finish to reduce the bling factor. should cost $150 to have done.
