• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone using these helmets? I want a fit conversation, I'm figuring the fit shape should be consistent between the Moto 9 Flex and the Moto 9.
I like everything I read about it, but have no idea of fit.
weight is good, my Airoh is @1100 grams (game changer/no fatigue light!) this new Bell is listed as @1450g

Always best to go find a shop and try one on with helmets as they are all shaped different even from the same manufacturer.

I just got a Bell Moto 9 Carbon. They run smaller than the Arai VX-Pro 3 and 4, that I've been wearing. I wear a Large Arai and had to go to X-Large. I asked Rich Lafferty about sizing, as he had made the same switch. He went from Medium Arai to Large Bell.

Moto 9 may not be Airoh light, but is lighter than my Arai and is better ventilated. I'm no longer fighting with sweat in my goggles and that's awesome!

Hard for me not to wear an Arai, as they are an awesome company and product, but a Bell was my first helmet 47 years ago. Even my wife, who I've known for 43 and been married to for 40 years said.... " Oh, back wearing a Bell!"

Ok John, I will!

I like my UFO because of weight.... Arai needs to update its design, its heavy but very comfortable.... let me know what you think Robert

I'm interested in the moto 9 flex too. Currently have a moto 9 and older airoh stelt. The airoh is lighter, but the bell is more comfortable and goggles fit better, not as comfortable as a shoei or arai though.
My bell came a little tight. Had to order thinner cheek pads

I'm gonna have to bite the bulllet and release funds for a more expensive, lighter helmet. If I was just a week-end rider, I could continue with the Bells and AGVs I have now maybe but riding so much I'm afraid with the neck and back pain I experience once I past the ~4hr mark on about every ride, I'm afraid I'm doing damage now that will show up later in the 5-10 yrs ... Plus I do some track play and my landing are nothing to write home about ...

I tried a Moto9 recently but it was too round for my head. AGV AX8 size small fits my head well, cheeks are a little tight, lightest helmet I've had, pretty good vents. Unfortunately, for the US market it's made in China.
The only other I've found so far in the $250-350 range that fits my head out of the box is a JT ALS-02 I picked up on a whim. It fits me like my old fav Simpsons, snug and plush all the way down to the jawline, now made in Korea, seems to be very nice quality, good ventilation. The JT is still old-school and doesn't have the neck/collarbone bumper that's common now.
Good enough for me, for now. If I raced more often/seriously I'd step up to top of the line.

I crushed two HJC helmets last year, one ice racing and one one asphalt motard racing. Spend the money on the best helmet money can buy and avoid what I went thru.

Dont like the China thing throw you.... they are not the best innovators but they are great copiers..... most helmets nowadays are made in china....

yes but ALL good helmets are made elsewhere.
Bell and Troy Lee Designs, are good helmets and made in China. I resisted buying a helmet, not made in a First World Country, for multiple reasons. I really like that Arai, is a family business, helmets are handmade in a small factory and they give back a good bit to the sport. I like that Bell, is an American company, based in California, but I guess it's unrealistic to think production could be in the US.

A difficult decision, but I like the Bell....

Handmade does not automatically equal better but I do like Arai.... I went to LS2 factory and was amazed at how they were made.... awesome to see....

I really like my UFO and Airoh mostly because of weight buy but also flow air great.... would like to try 6D.... hard to argue with Shoei but all their styles are old .....

I dont mind a Bell now that they are different from the Bicycle company....
