  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Baseline Jetting for your Keihin eqipped 05-07 TC/TE 450

Howdy. Put a Keihin FCR 41 on my 04 TC450 and wanted to know you guys are running for jets. I had the Mikuni, but got the FCR for free so I figured I'd try it. So I need pilot, main, and leak settings. I figure I'll have to fine tune it, but it would be great to be within a size or so VS shooting in the dark.

04 TC450
sea level for elevation.
FCR41 carb from an 07 SMR510 (has a 55 pilot in there now, i didn't check the main.)

Thanks for the help.

thanks Jack. I already have plans for the adjustable pilot screw. :) What size jets did you use for your 450 in the jd kit? I see the kit is made for 450/530/510. So id imagine you would want jets particular to your application.

No help really but I put a FCR37mx on my (wife's) 04 TC250 and it runs so much better it isn't funny. I did have fitment issues with the e-start motor / frame. I'm satisfied with the TMR on my 450.

I was satisfied with the TMR on my bike as well. I just hear everyone talk about how piss poor the carbs are, I figured I might be missing out on even better and didnt know it. Since it was free, aside from jet costs, I figured i would give it a shot. No fitment issues. Direct bolt up, but I did need the cables as well. Maybe Dan will know at motoxotica and I'll just pick em up there.

looking through the parts manuals found that that baseline for the 450 is:
main: 180
idle:45
leak:72
figured these would help others. I'll start here and see how they do. Since the carb came from an SMR, i'm guessing it would have been jetted pretty fat for my TC. It has a 55 idle jet in there, 85 leak, and 185 main

I have done hours and hours of jetting with a wideband on these bikes. You will not find a cleaner more consistent needle than the JD red for a husqvarna. Period!!!
Now I'm in Hawaii so my settings are Jd red 5th clip, 42 pilot, 178 main, 60 leak
