• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I don't want to speak for Greg, but I believe we'll have a spot open from the PNW to Mexico!

Yep, got 1 trailer slot still open.......It would be safer with a 3rd person so I don't crash taking pictures of F2G's eyes rolling back into his head 10 minutes into the drive  Yes, I'm that boring:cheers:

Edit: Once again, the offer is still open for parts transport from NW area to the South and vice versa......

Thanks for the offer F2G and IE, I am only 15 min. to Uptite in OC. I am working on a friend from the Santa Margarita area to go 07TE510, Motobob356. If he can get the time off I will have a travel partner from OC, if not, I am a solo, unless, I can talk my wife into hanging out in San Felipe for the weekend.

Hi Folks, It's a long story but I'm in****************************************! "Have Feather Duster Will Travel"****************************************!

I'm getting really excited about the trip and just wanted to give an update. I ripped my bike apart for some maintenance before I headed south! First things first...I have almost 2 complete seasons of riding and almost 1 complete year on my 2008 TE 450. I have never really done much in terms of mechanical maintenance and wanted to thank everyone for their help through this forum and TT. Man...this is hard work...working on our bikes! My hands are really sore and dirty. Here is a list of what I have done and still need to do (Tasky's) so that my bike is in tip top!

1. Changed my front and rear trials tires to a set of Motoz tires.
2. Cleaned linkage, replaced the rear shock bearing and regreased with a small mixture of anti-freeze/lock.
3. Changed oil.
4. Changed air filter.
5. Installed Trail Tech Vector with radiator temp gauge.
6. Installed upgraded stator.
7. Installed Trail Tech X2 HID with wiring harness to DC.
8. Installed Uptite Y.
9. Serviced forks with lighter oil and a little less and changed fork seals...it was leaking.
10. Upgraded radiator crossover tube.
11. New iridium spark plug.
12. Cleaned and regreased steering head bearings.
13. Tightened bolts and used Loc-Tite.
14. Tightened spokes.
15. Cleaned metal oil screens and oil filter.
16. Upgraded chain guide to BRP model.

Way to go F2G, with all that she should be ready for another couple of seasons, (of course, oil changes will be as needed).

Looking forward to meeting my PNW brethren.

Two more are in, me (gary) and my buddy Matt (who we call savage). Called the El Cortez but since my spanish is pretty much none, and the woman on the other ends english was pretty much not much, I don't know if our names were put on a list or anything. No worries seems like they will have plenty of rooms.

FYI, anyone that may need a birth cert in orange county can get one in about 20 min in santa ana for $17.

I've never been to baja, from talking to George it seems like this ride will be on easy fire roads. I have a half worn out maxis des IT and dont' really want to get rid of it, how important is a new rear going to be for this ride?

El cortez Hotel?

Your right , limited English profeciency. But we made the rez sloowwlly.
Julio ,Larry and John are in for the trip.

Have a couple of question for the hosting parties. (I'll drop by and see you next week George) But for now how about?

Any update to this trip?
Like, one chase truck or two?
Do we need to cary gas for both directions or just one at a time?
American gas in Bay of LA?
How we going to manage that?

I can get 150 miles out of my bike with a full tank and the four (1 liter) MSR bottles I have if I don't flog it. :D

Still don't have a traveling companion as my wife (and I) don't want to leave teen agers home alone to manage the house, I was a teen ager once with the parents gone. :busted:

Talk latter,
Gary

I have to say it sure sounds like you all are in for a great time. I would like to join you but timing is way off for now. What would be nice if I could get my son to trade in his honda 650 (pig) for a husky but he wont budge!
He is handy for a fuel truck with that big tank of his:lol: mabey you all would let him tag along way in the back:D any way you all have a great time and I will wait to here all about it:cheers:

Les

I must say, it's fun to follow all of your planning and scheming to get this ride under way. I wish I could join you, but maybe someday in another economy I might get to go on a trip of a life time like this one. have lots of fun and post lots of pictures for those of us stuck in the ruts on the home front.:applause:

Have 1 chase truck confirmed. Coffee was to drive the 2nd but have a? on that one.
That's the whole thing about Baja just have to do what have to. I just like to carry gas so I know I can make it back.
American gas well it's made here in ElSegundo just doesn't have all the smog crap in it. The Supreme in the RED pump is best.
The chase truck is for Rider Down primarly and a very small bag for over nite in Bay of La stuff, t-brush,change of shorts clean T-shirt only as much as you would want to carry on your back if no chase truck or has to go somewhere. Leave hair driers at home no electricity.
Could have 30-50 show up going to be great ride. Later George

Well I hate to say it but it looks like I going to have to bail out on this ride. I will going in for major oral surgery and not be to to good of shape for riding. I was hoping to put this off for a wile but the surgeon says it needs to happen now. Hope you all have a good time and I hope there is another chance to meet up with everyone.:cry:

This is disappointing news on several fronts; One, I'm very sorry you have to go through oral surgery. It's never fun. And two, I was very much looking forward to meeting you. The plus side for you, of course, is you won't have to witness me swimming in the Sea of Cortez:D

Heal up quickly and we'll see you on the next ride.

Well, being safe is the heart of my game plan in Baja...or anywhere these days:)

I shall do my best to document the ride with my handy-dandy little point-and-shoot camera that's been tossed down the road a few times.
I even have a new black and red camera case for it:thumbsup:

This is exactly what I was thinking. We do overnighters on our bikes quite frequently so I'll probably just put my doggy bags on and carry my stuff with me. I know Eric will have his larfy-looking army surplus bags on his bike, too, so we should be good to go. I really don't want to put my big tank on, though I will if I have to...

As far as no electricity goes, no worries there; My curling iron, blow dryer, fingernail polisher, make-up mirror, leg shaver, facial spa machine and espresso maker are all powered by batteries

Believe me, no one is more disappointed then me. I was very much enthused about meeting you and Erick in person, as well as many others that I have yet to meet. I try to keep a positive attitude about things like this, I won't be able to eat anything for a couple of days and won't have much ambition to eat anything for a few weeks so I guess I get to lose that 20#s that I have been trying to shed. I won't be able to smoke for a couple of weeks so that's a pretty good jump start on quitting permanently and for the first time in my life I will have a perfect smile.

WELCOME: Julio + friends.
Squids Leap + friend

Right on Stroker Ace.

Mc Donalds in Calexico--its the one on Hwy 111, east side of street, near the border. See ya there. Im in a very big black F350.

Rajo--sorry to read about this. Get well soon and join us next time. :)

I only have limited computer access until Wednsday (thanks ATT...)

If you arent sure about your range, bring a bleach bottle and you are good.

I'm in! It is a little complicated but several Cafe Husky members made it happen, especially one in particular.

Sweet news Coffee!

Looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the motley crew later this coming week!

Are we stoked yet:busted:
