• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Baja 1000 15x Husky

Getting text's from Jim now. He is out of the hospital, back down in baja and fixing some electrical gremlins the bike was having earlier. Last I heard they were still in the running at around RM 200. :applause:

whats up with the feeds? all i get is texting no weatherman voice reports

yeah, feed has been crappy all day. Jim is saying it is even crappy down there over actual radio too.

Just got a call from a Sat phone 401x Mike Short teamed with Mike Kay and Rob Barnum, think thats the name he gave me. At

Why do the racers always have electrical problems?

And lets all hope Jim recovers quickly and correctly :)

Mike just called he's 150+ miles up course waiting to get on. He just heard they are running again. Told him to dress warm as it's going to get coooold thru the mountains then wet fog and cold on the coast.
Wanted my home ph# so if he needed any help.

Just got an update from Jim. 15x is through Baja pits 8 around rm 400. :applause: Scoring is showing 401x in 8th position physical right now. We might just get the only 2 huskys in the race across the finish line!

Same here. been looking all over. Seems that most media sources loose interest once the top 3 are in.

Last info I got from Jim was last night about 9 race time. They were still running strong and about 200 miles out.

Just got a call from Mike Kay they finished around 9:30 am today had some issues but everyone is safe.
Will leave the details for them to report on.
He didn't know anything about status of Jim O's team.
