• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Well, it looks like I will NOT be racing any Outdoor Nationals aboard a TC 450 this year afterall. No, not because I don't have my card (because I do in fact have that sitting in front of me) but because Husqvarna's are once again not going to be homologated for AMA Outdoor Motocross. I just don't understand how a TC 450 is able to race in AMA PRO Supercross AND AMA PRO Flattrack but somehow is UNABLE to race in AMA PRO Motocross.....plus I guess I don't realize why Husqvarna wouldn't be trying to push the issue and get this situation resolved. I would think that if they wanted to sell more Motocross bikes then they would want to be seen on the worlds biggest Motocross stage.....I guess not. Just thought I would share the news with everyone, don't expect to see me at any Nationals this summer aboard the TC 450. See ya.

every series has its own homologation process, US MX is not conducive (SP?) to smaller manufacturers or to cottage industry manufacturers, in the MXGP world they take pride in the National cottage shops (TM for example)and get them through the homologation process for the sake of competition,,,if you look at MXGP brands you will even find CCM!! from the UK in MX competition this year. Anyway this can go on and on,,but with the new 250 I believe the focus is the 2010 season (which is coming fast) and it may only be the 250 that gets processed.

Blake so sorry for the letdown,,,,,after the Derek Costella thing last year I thought for sure the guys would get the TC in the game!! We are bummed with you,,,,,,,Head up Blake and kick butt in every series that'll get you on the start line!! Use that energy to gas it ************************************************************************************************************************
 
That really sucks to hear Blake. :thumbsdown: I was really pumped for you to try to make a run at a couple of nationals this summer.

Hopefully husky will take this opportunity to explain why they aren't getting the bikes homologated. To us is seems a simple matter of submitting the paperwork, but I'm sure there is more to it than that.

Any clue how many there are? 5? 10? 20?


EDIT - My question is how many series are there that a manufacturer might need to homologate, not how many bikes needed for homologation.

I was told you have to bring 400 units in to be homologated for U.S. MX Nationals. They changed the number from 100 to 400 around '97. I was told the reason for this was shortly after Chiodi went back to back World GP champion on the Husky. The big four were sore from having their butts kicked by Ducati in the World superbike Championship, and didn't want to see it happen in MX. I do not know if it is true but it sure makes it harder for a small brand.

I think as we discussed last year at the Derek Costella (on a GP motos TC450) Glen Helen AMA Nat disqual that the rules are posted in the AMA websites Nat MX rule book. Don't know about some of those details but suffice it say there are politics at play in all the top racing series all over the world,,,I am still in the process, but have been learning about WSBK and its little degrees of political intrigue.

Racing is great in all its forms but the politics of cash get mixed into the mix and some rules start to look biased (they are) or unfair, sometimes things are just overlooked and ammendments need to made.

Best of season to Blake and kick big five butt in whatever race he finishes!! Keep healthy be safe and stay on the gas!!!
 
Thanks guys for all the comments and support.......but it still stinks that I can't ride the TC 450. Like Clay said, to us it seems as easy as verifying some numbers (units) and paperwork but there obviously has to be more to it that just that or else why wouldn't it have been done by now. Either way, hopefully I can still ride a couple Nationals aboard a buddies something or other and be able to retain my card for 2010 which then hopefully I will be able to race the TC 450 (not holding my breathe though on that one either). Thanks again and will keep you updated.

* By the way, another race this past weekend and I won BOTH the 450 A and +25 class, not too bad for winning 3 out of my first 4 races of the season (especially having been off for over 1 1/2 years). See ya.
 
Blake in another section you may want to (hint) give some of your bike set up tips/specs (we hope). suspension/jetting etc. If not no sweat. Again keep flying the flag we got yer back!!!
PS thanks to Hall's my 04TC450 (Mikuni carb bike) ran great while I owned it.

It depends where they want to race, in what venue, every racing series has a written rule book, for everything from fuels to displacement to age breakdowns and yes homologation regulations are written into some as well. you have the AMA involved in a bunch like MX nats Nat enduro, nat H&H etc the WERA, Western HS, WORCS, GNCC and even local series. So an exact number would take alot of internet time........... Oh yea then you have the FIM and each org per country like our AMA. Again stated the homologation rules are to prevent the manufacturers from gaining an unfair advantage by using one off space age protoype vehicles like F1 for example which of course has many rules but allows for prototype specials.
Oh yeah and every org demands some sort of cash........to process,,,,ask Mike Kay what he paid to homologate/scrutineering stamp his Paris-Dakar Bike for example.
