  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Bad Day Riding In The Snow

Went riding yesterday out of Ginger Creek. Started to run into snow on Simmons Spur. Kept going over to Cruiser Creek and started gaining elevation. I love to break trail. Hard on engines, easy on you. Finally burned my way up Laughlin Crossover and Fire Break #2. Uphill in 1 1/2 feet of frozen snow. Real slow going. One to two mph for 1/2 mile. Not once all day long did the radiator fan come on. Not many bike can claim that. Any way other guys were getting tired, so we headed toward truck. Made it to Camp to Camp trail. Started down that. Bike died in corner. Won't turn over. Noticed that there was oil on right of engine. Top Banjo bolt on oil line to head was loose. Pumped all the oil out of the engine till it seized. Am probably going to need a crank and complete head. Ouch! Oh well, stuff happens

I looked at mine in passing last night and wondered what would happen if it came off!

Can you re-title threads? Its obviously a bad thing to have happen, wouldnt have thought to check this for tightness.

Unlucky mate, thanks for the heads up though.

Sorry to hear it! good luck on the repairs- it doesn't take long to loose all your oil when its pressurized.

Duggoey, banjo bolt just loosened up a little bit. Just enough to let oil leak out.

Xcuvator, Not quite. Murphy Camp to Steampot Road down to the East Fork Road then up to Headquarters Camp and up to Ginger Creek Road.

That does suck. I had the banjo bolt on mine crack when I snagged the branch of a very small downed tree. Ridiculous place to put the line---I'm still thinking of how to mount some type of deflector on engineering oversight.

Yes and yes. And who might you be? Thanx Chris

buttstock- for some reason- all your quotes are getting unformatted- it looks like you have deleted the bracket [ which begins the html code for the quote in nearly every quote you have made...

maybe- just click the quote button- then type below the quote, easier and that's normally what everyone does:thumbsup:

Ok, Ok, I'll stick with what I know best. If it can be broken, I'll find a way. Thanx Chris

Oh well, stuff happens. I'm sure Bill will find JUST enough parts to get it running again. Besides it was due for a valve adjustment. Chris
