• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Backfiring?

Completed the DIY version of the o2 sensor bypass aka PU mod this past weekend. Current temp gun readings are significantly lower than before. Also, no backfiring when I roll off throttle. Sincerely appreciate CH's direction on this one. Power seems the same, so the next mod for this season will be the LeoV enduro slip on, all stainless steel, non-carbon fibre end cap. That is, if I can find one, as they are mad scarce :o(

Note: Upgraded to a NGKCR8EIX spark plug as well.

. Look for the LV X3 for the SMS610 that's what it's listed for ( the ss end cap one )

This sounds like its in the same range as the problems I'm having with my 08 SM 610. I took it into a shop to have the valves adjusted, new piston, and new gaskets put in. It came out and wouldn't idle. The shop said it needed to be remapped but I live 5 hrs from any husky dealer so I got the JD jetting fuel injection controller. Followed the standard settings and it still wouldn't idle tell it turned idle to a 1 dash 2 setting which it seems to like the most. It still struggles to stay alive idling when it starts and has been dying at stop lights etc. Any idea what is going on? This is the first fuel injected bike I've owned and besides the full leo vince x3 exhaust and JD Jetting controller and exhaust plug I installed nothing has been done that I think could affect injection system. And neither of the two caused the problem. I'd be grateful for any ideas.

Turn your idle up. It's behind the air box.

Interesting read. Mine is bone stock, I have not even removed the cannister. I also have a slight pop out of the exhaust, but to me it just adds character. Just finished 1/2 of the TAT with a DRZ and a new KTM 500 EXC. The Husky did not miss a beat and I got close to 65 miles a gallon. Both the other riders said they will buy a Husky just for the sound. Honestly, I see no need to tamper with the EFI, she runs sweet enough just the way she is.

Other than breathing and farting through a drinking straw and STILL running obnoxiously lean :p
If you can, ride someone's that has been gutted and tuned, and you'll question your current state of satisfaction ;)

Post a dino chart, with fuel ratio before and after and if there is at least a 10% difference in hp it will be worth my while. My Husky is really much faster every time it gets cleaned and shiny, hate to feel that power loss when it gets dirty and full of mud. (Placebo) ;)

But seriously, to me a dirt bike which beats a Harley between stop lights is more than enough, can't use that power in the dirt anyway and not willing to give up my fuel consumption over 60mpg.
