AWSOME side stand for DOHC TE's

That title should get a lot of attention. How about one of our outstanding manufacturing company's coming up with a bolt-on replacement kickstand for our newer Husqvarna DOHC TE’s. You guys make some great products for our bikes, however this is overdue.

So what about it, 7602, Uptite, Motosportz, BRP, the challenge is, can you guy’s make a functional, strong, lightweight, good looking side stand for us. Does anyone already have one in the works? Do any of you have the time or desire to make one for your loyal customers.

Feel free to talk amongst yourselves, draw straws or whatever, and then please someone step up and make us a side stand worthy to put on a Husqvarna. Thanks, Ken

Getting fed up of my friends jumping off every time I'm first at a closed gate and saying "Let me get it or we'll be here all day while you find somewhere the Husky will actually stay upright on that [expletive deleted] stand". A real shame on what's otherwise an awesome bike.

Come up with a stand that fits my bike and works like a stand should and I'll be in line even if it means paying the usual ridiculous shipping and import tax for the UK.

I'm sure there must be other riders in the UK who'd want one, so maybe some sort of import deal might be done through someone like Husky Sport? I know, I know, let's not get ahead of ourselves, but I'm all excited now!

The kickstand on my 08 does need more attention given for placement then say my DRZ. The funny thing (to me anyways) is I seem to be aware of my surroundings when it's time to stop the bikes on the trail. I make sure to stop my bike in a spot that looks good rather then stopping the bike and then pushing the bike around to accommodating ground. I do like the looks of the 09 stands much better then the bland 08 stand, but it doesn't cause me enough trouble to replace it.

mine failed today.. caught it in time but had to retap threads on stand frame tabs as the bolts were rusty..works ok now but still the worst stand ive ever seen on a 2005/2006 bike !.. crap design indeed !

i'd like a new bolt on stand.. preferably a copy of a japanese worthwhile stand... function first, form second..

Well, to each his own; so long as you're happy with your stand then that's great.

I've tried your approach and despite having stopped somewhere I thought was ok, I often still find it's not and the bike's teetering on the edge of falling over. And when I'm in a group on a trail and the person ahead stops (or crashes) there's not always anywhere that looks suitable before I get to them.

I'm not sure whether my 09 stand is worse than yours, but I can't see why it should be designed so that you have to lean the bike well away from the vertical just to get the stand down. When it finally is down the contact point with the ground is so close to the axis of the bike that it can easily fall over either to the left or the right if the ground slopes much at all, so stopping on a camber means turning the bike to face up or down the slope (not always easy on a very narrow track).

Of course I could just choose to live with it and currently that's what I'm having to do, but no other bike I've owned or ridden off road has had these issues and all were much easier to put on the stand and safer once they were on it. If there was a bolt-on replacement available that solved these problems it would be well worth it for me at least.

None of this spoils my enjoyment when I'm actually riding of course, as I still love my Husky. :ride:

Yes, its about time. Always hated that sidestand issue on all my huskys, and always told myself I'll do something about it...
Just finished the prototype for a good thick skid plate for the 08-09 4 strokes, and it came out a winner. Larger quantity manufacturing is in its first phases.
Once that out of my way, I'll look into the side stand development, unless someone makes it before me, than I'll just buy one.

I won't even use the stand in my garage because if I don't notice and the back tire went flat, it would tip over. I keep the bike on my lift.

Yeah the one on my bike (04 TE510) is shithouse aswell.

in my garage it stays on rear end triangle frame.. dont have a lift but i never needed one as my xr was built for standind on it while kicking lol... te wouldnt cope with that at all !! typically italian !... that'll do !...but having had ducati's in the past... i just love the bikes..different to japs entirely....heres some of my duc porn if you want it.. a treu one off... show me another the same...

I think I have solution worked out for the 08 & 09.
The prior years are mounted differently.

Never mind the DOHC bikes......... what we need is a good side stand for the TE610......

Here is a working solution to the 08 & 09 TE 250, 310, 450 & 510. I tested on loose sand, gravel, soft tilled dirt and pavement. Looks like a winner. The design uses an un-modified 09 cast aluminum kickstand and stock hardware. My mounting adapter moves the stand foot about 4 inches out the down position and moves the foot in about 1 inch in the up position. There is still plenty of clearance to the chain guard with the rear end bottomed out.

I'll look into the mounting on the 610 later this week.

I added the bold out cause I think that is what you meant, not move the kickstand 'down' 4".

I think the bike is still a little too upright still, even though the angle looks much better.
