This is my story way back when my bike was fairly new.
I installed the new de-compressor lifter this weekend and my 05' TE510 starts like a dream again, e-button and manually. Lets just hope it lasts this time. I have a good feeling about it this time as you can see from these compelling pictures of the Old versus New, particularly in how the lifter aligns with the rocker arm. The alignment pictures were taken with the camshaft positioned as far to the left as possible with no slack. It's clear to me that the old part is flawed as was the original part that came on the bike from the factory.
The original lifter failed at 173 miles. Husqvarna sent me a replacement they pulled off another bike. It happens to be the one I replaced this weekend after failing just inside 600 miles.
I slid the shim over the right end of the camshaft.
There was to much "slop" in my opinion, causing
The lifter to, intermittently, slide off the end of the lobe.
The shim took up some slack and kept the camshaft
positioned more to the left.

Even though the new de-compressor lifter has much better alignment, I shimmed the camshaft anyway to keep it positioned to the left. There is still a very small bit of play in the the camshaft side-to-side movement which is probably a good thing.
I believe this will help solve other TE owner starting problems. I'm somewhat frustration with Husqvarna's denial of this flaw. It's obvious to me that they have improved this part and won't admit it. This has not been a pleasant experience for me to say the least. And I would hope that after seeing these pictures, Husqvarna would at least cover the replacement cost of this part. I'm willing to bet that most of the TE510 owners that complain of starting problems, have this De-compressor issue.

I'm not kidding when I say my bike now starts effortlessly with this new de-compressor. All I have to do is put enough weight on the kick starter to push it through and it starts every time and that's how it should be. I haven't even adjusted the valves or changed the stock jetting yet. Things may be different for the 250's and 450's but I'm telling you, there is no way to start the 510, e-button or manually, when this de-compressor fails.
