  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC Are there any 701 Supermoto owners out there?

I sold my TR650 Strada over a year ago. I am seriously considering the 701. I am told the 2016 allotment is sold out, so I will be looking at a 2017. I usually take short rides on roads that keep speeds reasonable and are off the beaten path. I would like to hear about any ownership experiences and advice. My last 2 bikes have been a DRZ 400 SM and the Strada and I enjoyed them both. I thought how nice it would be with the 650 engine in the DRZ chassis. Sounds like the 701 fits the bill on paper.

Yeah I almost went that route but I only weigh 160lbs so I didn't decide it was the best bike for me. Anyways, last years street ktm690's had brand new engines that made like 10 extra HP. Might want to cross your fingers for that updated engine technology to be implemented on the husky 17'.

Lewis, I saw a 701 at a dealer on Saturday. In pa but he is off rt 81, about 75-76 miles into pa? If your interested.

Must be ToyTech. I rang them up and they reported the 16 allotment was gone and 17's would be in later in the winter. Thank you!

The counterbalanced 690 Duke engine would be a nice addition to the SM.

yeah it was toy tech. Nice guys there.. If I end up with a new husky it will be from that shop.

LOL, they must have heard that all the way in Austria. Just read the 701 Supermoto will get the smoother Duke 690 engine. Definitely would make the 2017 model worth the wait.

I joined here back in '13. I too had a TR650. I ordered a 701 sm from Harpers In Hendersonville NC in July. Was hopeful the new engine would find its way into the new 2017 Husqvarna. Well it's due to deliver any day! Pretty excited I am. I have a big pile of farkels ready to add. The bike could deliver any day now. I will report here first.

My '17 701 SM arrived at Harpers Husqvarna today. I hope to collect her by the end of the week. Can't wait!
