    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Are online forums a reason you bought a Husqvarna Bike?

It was for me. I never would have bought a Husqvarna bike if the fantastic & helpful group of Husqvarna enthusiasts did not exist. You are truly great people :cheers:

If the groups with the 610's weren't so good to let you know what the issues have been and the fix's.:thumbsup:
I would not have bought the best DualSport bike built.:cool:

I heard mostly about the Huskys from fellow riders in town. Ice racing, hare scrambles, etc. Wanted the 08/Te for it's modern F/I system.

Got board waiting for when the 08's would arrive in N/A. Remember how late the 08's were....:lol::lol: Went in search for a "All Husky" forum and found TT. Close enough. Found I wasn't the only one waiting for the 08's.

Then Coffee started this place up a while back.:D

And the rest is ....
 
Its a funny thing...I bought my first 06 CR after viewing a buyers guide issue in cycle canada magazine...I was always a 125 2T guy...:thumbsup:

It was the red and white that got my attention....reminded me of the husky days in the 70's...:)

I rode it for the first year....and it wasnt till I started searching on the internet after... that I found that I wasnt the only guy interested in husky's....thats where I found all you great folks on here....:cheers:
 
I did....My TE510 was my first dirtbike ever, and I bought it from a neighboring state sight unseen. If it wernt for the good info on the forums i never would have known about Husky~

These forms MADE me buy two Husky's (08 CR125, 09 TXC510).. LOL now I am looking into a third! You guys need to stop or ban me from seeing your bikes and reading your great post.
 
As much as I love our little Husky community, forums had nothing to do with me buying a Husqvarna. I've been riding the wolf since the early 70's. That's not to say that I haven't had many other brands but I've always loved the Huskys best. :applause: :applause:
The great thing about forums is that they allow us to share our experiences with people not familiar with the marque.:thumbsup:

You need a 610 to compliment the rest of the stable.:D
 
I don't know I was looking into a bigger 2 stroke ; WR250/300. I have an 04 Aprilia RSV 1000 Factory for street duty. See I am needing somthing between the 125 and 510 and the little 2 stroke reminded me how much fun they can be. See what you did, now I am thinking about the 610 LOL.
 
After riding Russ's 07 TE 450, I knew that I wanted a REAL dirt bike with a plate. Based on what I found on ThumperTalk, I decided to buy an 08 TE 450. Without the forums, I would be on a Honda CRF450X.
 
Seems so far 50% of the people found forums either essential or otherwise of great importance in deciding which bike to buy.

Yep, absolutely.

I bought a BMW f650 to get back into Motorcycles after not riding for 20 years. I bought that bike strictly cuz I liked how it looked. "dual sport" seemed cool, but I'd never ridden on dirt before.

Once I had that Bike, I started exploring a bit and found I really liked going off the beaten path. I also rapidly discovered that though I "could" lift it. I can't really lift it 5 or 6 times. After one or two falls, exhaustion sets in making more falls almost inevitable.

SO I started looking for a smaller bike, but nothing had what I liked about the Dakar, long service interval, reliability and decent road manners. I relied very heavily on online reviews/opinions to steer me to the Husky 610.

So far I'm really happy with it, even though it tried to kill me on my third ride.
 
Yes, it started with watching my first Dakar (when it still on "SPEED", mid 90's?). That planted the seed. Then I got into dreaming of long offroad trips & found "Horizons Unlimited", while reading that web site, one of the small bikes they recommended was the TE 610. So the internet search was on. Unfortunately they weren't available in Canada.
I stumbled onto TT, talked to many new online friends.

Mike Kay convinced me to get the 510 :cheers: Along with positive reports from others on The Big Bad Wolf (BigBob, etc. :thumbsup:)
 
i couldn't find any information on Huskies anywhere. I saw one here and there, but I ended up at the dealership in town, looking at the machines, asking questions and looking at parts diagrams to see how they were constructed inside. Then I decided to buy one. I didn't know about this forum until I had owned the machine for nearly two years and I am glad I am here now because I found so much neat information on accessories, clothes and maintainence, plus all the fun Husky people.:thumbsup:
 
Wasn't for me.

I grew up liking sports and certain sports personalities. Then you link them with the brands they represent. In the period I was interested in motorcycles, Husqvarna was well known and was winning.

Decades passed before I ended up with my 08 TE 250 and I considered KTM, Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha but decided the Husky was better looking and went over to Uptite to take a first hand look.
 
On-line forums were definitely one of the reasons I bought my Husky.
It's how I first learned of the bike being available and where I learned all the issues and praises others had for the bike that ultimately swayed me to pull the trigger on it.

I had wanted a Husky since seeing them in local desert races in the '70's, but with no local dealer, it became extremely rare to even see one around my area, let alone ride or buy one.
It wasn't until spring of 2007 when a fairly new dealer brought out a '07 TC510 demo bike to one of our club rides, that I finally got to ride a Husky for the first time.....came back giggling like a little school girl w/her first crush.

Couple months later I noticed in one of the fourms, that the local dealer had just got in a new '05 TE510 he had found. Our monthly trail club meeting just happen to be hosted at his shop the next Monday so I did some reseach in the Husky forum over the weekend, then looked the bike over Monday night.....after a restless night, re-reading the mostly highly positive stuff in the forum, went back to talk to the dealer at noon Tuesday.....he said $5199.....I said "SOLD!".

Or maybe 1/2 seems to find online information and support of great importance?

2006 the Husqvarna TEs & SMs became street legal in the USA. I knew that I wanted the lightest possible dirtbike with a license plate from the factory as opposed to a dual sport.

To characterize me as careful and jaded would be a huge understatement. Three things convinced me to buy a Husqvarna:
  1. TT 4st section and all the helpful people there with honest but non-sensationalized feedback. ***
  2. Rave reviews of MotoXotica which is less than an hour away.
  3. Rob Kieth helping someone on the TT 4st section personally.
Without all of those things I'd have bought something else much less worthy.


*** that tradition continues on Cafe Husky :thumbsup:
