  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone running 90/100 front on their Xlite?

Just wondering if anyone is using a 90/100 front tire on their Xlite 250/310? I've got a new Pirelli 90/100 mxmh 454 sitting in garage. Make any improvements? Most of our races are hardpack with some sand sections thrown in. I'm thinking of trying it since I have to change stock tube anyway with an HD.

I'm running a 90/100 front tire. While I don't race, it seemed to help some to keep the front end up in the softer stuff.

I always like the bigger size tires (front or back) but the rubber compound is what makes the difference to me ... We have lots of hard dirt here and the softer rubber tires feel the best to me ...

NOTE: Your old 010 TC250 is doing a fine job here on tracks and trails ... I gotta thank you again for the bike and extra plastics ...

I've been running that tire on the front of my TXC310 since the original equipment wore out.
It has a pretty open tread pattern for a 'hard terrain' tire so it steers well in sand. It has a soft rubber compound so it has good traction in dry conditions - marginally easier to get the front back after 'losing' it. The soft rubber does shred/chuck the very side knobs in rocks - but that's part of getting better traction. The added volume of the 90 'floats' the front just a little more in sand and gives a little more 'cush' in rocks ... and the slightly larger size takes just a bit away from how quickly the bike steers.
Summary - excellent tire for the x-lite but it wears more quickly than the scorpion xtra. (careful - mine just barely, barely 'kisses' the underside of the front fender on hard landings)
