  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone had this issue before? Broken exhaust muffler mount 2009 SM510R SMR

nocontrol

Husqvarna
B Class
I have a 2009 SM510R with just over 1000 miles, pulled the side panels off today for cleaning and found that the mount on the right muffler was sheared off. The muffler has never been hit/crashed on. Anyone else had this issue? Simply a bad part + vibration? :excuseme:

Not sure if warranty would cover it, but it's not like I want to leave it as is for months while that is figured out anyways. :banghead:

I've not seen that exact issue. I've seen many tabs break off the subframe though (with no crashes).

Being in a Fire Truck mfg plant that works with metal all the time usually when a piece of metal is grained prior to bending or anodized it becomes more brittle.. That is on the bendline and could have had stress crack and took some wiggle and waggeling to complete the process to its current state..

Stay with your first thoughts, dealer and if his hands are tied then calmly continue to the top... I'm sure they will stand good for it..

When George makes his exhaust units he puts a considerably beefier mount on it....with a better weld. If anyone has one they might post a pic.

Yes, aftermarket items all have bigger and better.. But in case of point these kind of factory equipped items will never be corrected or fixed if the factory support group is not aware of them..

The flag has to be raised or the situations will never be addressed.. Just the facts.

That is exactly correct Carl.If the imperfections and flaws are not brought to the manufacturers attention then we all have the same issues year after year. This is the only way that progress towards better built machines is accomplished,by letting them know there is a problem. If it shows up enough times somebody will address the issue.

Yes they do and its still is a QC situation on Husky's end..
Husqvarna paid good money for good product..

It's a shame for it to fall on Huskys lap first.. Then its their deal to make sure the supplier makes good on their end and if it can't be straightened out then they would need to find a more reliable source for the best of prior sales and long term users alike..

this is like any other company starting to produce more product.. The more you sell the more there could be more warranty..

The orange bikes saw that when the big push came on in 03/04 and fought its way thru..

Husky has stood up to many areas I saw and they with the help of BMW are doing it right on the general public side.. Like I posted many times.. The dealer needs to make the first call(if it is a defective problem) and if and only if that he said there is nothing they could do then move up to the next level.. The system works but only when done properly..

Hope it helps

I'm going to take it to the dealer this weekend, and thanks to MXRider, it looks like I am not stuck with finding a full exhaust after all. Apparently you can cut the stock midpipe and then use a TE slipon with it.

So I guess now I am looking for a stock 09/10 450/510 TE/TXC/TC Muffler, or else I need to spend ~$250 on a FMF slipon.
