Anyone close to Philadelphia

Hi Guys
I am relatively new to the forum and am looking for some riders with whom I can ride...i dont care abt the ride as long as there are people close by to ride the dirt.....another Husky owner close by would be awsome....i also have an aprilia and more than often all my contacts have been useful for exchanging parts etc....

I live in North Annville (near Toy Tech) but mostly ride with an old ex-enduro buddy who lives just off the Tower City/Tremont exit of I81. He knows all the trails up there and has 2 different Huskys he rides.

Is your buddy in Tremont or Joliett? Next time I come to PA to ride, I need to hook up with you guys. I stay in Williamstown, PA, about 10 miles SW of that same I-81 exit. Do you guys ride on free trails or Rausch Creek?

I think it's exit #107 - it's the Tremont / Tower City / Joliett exit. It's all free riding baby - we don't subscribe to that "pay to ride" crap the 2 different clubs up there charge. I literally park in his driveway and the trails start at the end of his yard. On the other side of the street from his house is a Jeep Club of some sort that leases the land and charges to ride, but with the hours of trails we can ride for free it's foolish to pay. Most of it is old tight s/t enduro trails with lots of rocks and logs(some have been widened by the quad riders) connected by power lines or old jeep trails. We ride tunnels under I81 and sometimes above ground across I81 (don't tell the state troopers). We usually ride 8-11-ish on a Saturday morning before it gets too hot. I can't ride this weekend, and next weekend am heading up to my cabin in Lycoming Co with the Family, but am planning on riding Saturday am the 10th. I'll talk to him and make sure it's ok to bring someone but I'm sure he'll be fine with it...the more the merrier

Please be careful what you post on this public access site. Much of the land in that area is private and riden on without permission. Our riding club has lost alot of land used for our enduro as a result of people riding where they should not.
If you want a place to ride and people to ride with, think about joining a club. There are many in the area, check out ECEA.ORG

If people continue to ride where they should not PA is going to end up like NJ when it comes to off road riding.

What is your riding club? Is it in this area of PA? If so, you'll no doubt know that much of the land in this area is NOT owned by the "pay to play" companies. In fact, MUCH of the land they post as "theirs" is state game land and/or owned privately. When I ride there I constantly run into "lost" riders from the "pay to play" areas... they get "lost" so they can ride the best trails. Trails that me, and many of my friends, built on those mountains back in the 70's. Don't over-react. There's not enough "rebel riders" left in that area to cause a stir. The residents don't really care about the local riders... it's usually the "lost" "pay to play" riders who cause the problems.

It's some of the many acres of privately owned land that the coal companies own and don't care who rides - like it used to be back in the 80's before idiots acted like they owned the land and did whatever they wanted. You would ride and see trash everywhere and they even vandalized some of the expensive mining equipment sitting around. Like many things, a few jerks ruin it for many. You have to know where you can and can't ride, and like I said, my friend lives there and rides all the time. Up there, seeing a dirtbike crossing over a public road is like seeing a Chevy in any other area...it's a way of life and the people are cool about it as long as you ride responsible.

Bingo! It sounds like we ride the same areas. Old mine land. I will admit to riding some game land, but only long enough to get home... and when I was forging those trails in the 70's it wasn't game land! Now the wardens ride their geek-mobile, 12-ton 4 wheelers on the trails me and my friends built. As far as I'm concerned, my blood is in that soil. If they want to try and arrest me for riding on part of my soul... they can try.

Hey Guys....
I need some practice...and this place looks like hour and half...can i come by sometime to ride with u guys....
This weekend is off...the weekend next i will be in lost trails getting ready for hancock and the weekend after i will be in hancock...probably sometime in august i can sneak out in the early morning hours....

I think I'm riding this Saturday am (awaiting the return confirmation call). If so, I'll double check with "the man" when we ride that it's ok to bring you along rudyunknown - I'm sure it is. Drop a line the middle of the week in August when you can ride and I'll get it set up if my Saturday is open....more Husky riders = more fun.

We rode this Saturday morning from 8 to 10:30 and it was beautiful weather. I spoke to my friend and he agrees - the more the merrier, so the next time you can ride let me know and if it works out for us (we both have weekend jobs) we're good to go!!
