  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anybody running the Metzler Enduro 3s?

I'm looking at tires for a TE 510 to take a long mostly pavement dualsport ride. The Mezler Enduro 3s generally get good reviews. Any experience/opinions here?

Look good. Might want to look at the Pirelli MT43 DOT trials tires as well. Been running them for 700 miles so far on my TE511 and really like them. The front takes a little getting use to but has been very good and does not do anything stupid. Highly recommended and do great on street and dirt. About half the cost of those Metzlers too.

You also might want to call some local husky shops and see if they have the Metzler Karoo DS tire take offs laying around. I have mine from this bike and would make good street tires. I did not like them off road but were great on the road.

A quick review... I mounted up the Metzeler Enduro 3s and they are pretty nice. I haven't been in sand or loose dirt yet, but they hook-up on packed dirt about the same as the stock knobby set-up. I can't really tell a difference there. On the street I'm still looking for the limit. I'm down to the outside whiskers and they feel rock solid. The only slippage I've noticed was throttle induced at slow speed. I'm not sure how they compare to other tires, but they exceed my expectations.

I'm running them on mt 610 right now, and they rock on the street. Mud and sand are a slippery ride, but hard pack works just fine.

Enjoy!
