  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Any SMR 511 owners ?

I would say its like comparing a restricted 08-10 SM 450-510 with out power up kit to a stock SM 610(more like the SM 450 since the 511 is only 477cc in reality)... Huge difference in my opinion but then again I prefer very light bikes..

The TE 511 is better from a performance point of view than an SM 630. Things like weight, suspension, and torque would be the upside to the TE 511. Do not own a TE 511 but have borrowed a friends for a couple weeks and have ridden a couple other ones TE 449/511, but I do own a 08 SM 450. Will be soon selling the SM and picking up a TE 449/511.

Great brakes, good power when derestricted...
Completely different from a 630. Looking at them side by side you can see the difference in size and stance. Small fuel tank in the 511 too. I have a TE449 converted to supermoto and have also put many miles on a 511 supermoto. I have previously owned a SM510R and a 610SM. Out of all of them, for pure animal-ness, the 510 was awesome. For everyday comfort and friendliness, the SM610. Somewhere in the middle is where Id place the 449/511 model.

I understand they are aesthetically different , but power and rideability are more of a concern . Is it high strung or manageable ?
