As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
That is correct. There will be no S model. All FE. The cool part is that there was never a 450 S (at least stateside) model. So now there's a 350, 450, and 501.
There's rumors on Ktm talk that Ktm might have to end up redesigning the fuel tanks on the exc's just to comply with California and or EPA standards. Excs are usually always available late July early August every year and my dealer told me he "thinks" maybe March. Holy crap. Feel sorry for people who put deposits down. Moths ago.
Thankfully.Really can't wait to hear about some good news for the FE's and 501. I'm okay with the wait its just the never ending news of delays and possible problems. A official review from anywhere in the world would be awesome.
We just got off the phone with our Husky rep; while that may or may not be true for KTM (it's happened before for them), that is NOT TRUE for the Huskys.![]()
Guys, it's comments like this that raise my blood pressure. Please talk me down off the ledge.
I will say this, a warning to everyone. DO NOT BUY A STREET LEGAL BIKE UNLESS IT RUNS LIKE A CHAMP, AND THE SUSPENSION WORKS OUT OF BOX. If you don't heed that advice, be prepared to spent a minimum of $2,000 to get the bike to run right, and lose a few months of your life playing bike tuner.
My 2015 fe350s was a huge mistake! I finally have it running right, but I'm into that bike in a big $$$ way. Maybe 8k? Meanwhile, I got a 2016 fe450 NON s....and the bike rocks right out of the box and got it plated EASILY.
Hear me now, or pay later...
I wouldn't touch a 2017 Husky/KTM until I'm convinced they run right, don't have big problems. I was going to get a 2017 TE300 or 450/500, and one 2016 model. Instead I just bought 2 2016 bikes to compliment the 2015 I have.
FE 501's I heard have arrived in the US at some locations. Albeit they are in crates and need to be prepped for pick up. Canada I'm not sure of ETA but I'm assuming in the coming weeks hopefully.
Hey guys, has anyone figured out or ordered the 2017 Husqvarna FE 501 Easy Fit Under Fender tail light (brake) with tighter signal lights or slimmer signal lights. The stock signal lights and rear brake light with plate holder are horribly ugly.
Please tell me someone has figured out this modification upgrade? I emailed SICASS but haven't heard back so was hoping the husky forum would be in the loop?~!~~
from my experience on the previous generation bodywork, I would think an underfender from a 17 TE should bolt right up which streamlines the taillight issue. add some flush mount signals e.g. sicass, and a license plate bracket, and tail tidy complete. Thats how I did my 15 501s. The TE underfenders even have bolt holders molded into the plastic on the underside that line up perfectly with the license plate bracket. If your dealer has a 17 TE on the floor, take a look at the underfender...
