    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

never say die, dyed in the wool- GT216AA 90/100-21 front user....this one will be hard to change it is an amazing tire.
as for the rear Im the freak that uses FIM 140/80-18s, been on the Pirelli scorpion pro for a number of years now, mainly on the price being lower for the Pirelli than Michelin and Metzeler. Well I just moussed up a Maxxis EN again due to its lowest price point for FIM rears. I think I will like it, It of course has the standard homologated FIM pattern (51.05 pattern) but he EN has more closely spaced side knobs for cornering along with larger footprint center knobs for rock traction.
I think I will like this tire.
PS FYI
Scorp and EN all moussed and lubed for install both weight 15 pounds, they each weigh 11 lbs just the tire.
GT216AA weighs 10lbs and 12 all lubed and moussed.
 
An accomplished A rider and I tested this EN against an MT 16 here in the nasty east, NY and north Jersey single track. I had an EN on my Italian WR250 a few days and he followed behind on KTM 400 w/MT16. He is a hard sell kinda guy but he saw how well the EN was hooking up, bought one and liked it better than the MT 16. The MT 16 will outlast it tho but will not corner as well IMHO. Deep mud is the only draw back we found w/EN. I used a heavy tube and 6 psi but we rarely get into 3rd gear here. I'm trying an Equilibrium this weekend with same tube and 5 psi and it rained like hell here, may go down the shore and ride the sand not sure yet.
 
good to know you ran that low low pressure. I just stuffed mine so its on the hard side until the mousse breaks down more IDK maybe 10-12 psi feel.

Robbie likes it the Maxxis EN that is. seems the same as other FIM tires straight line but for me better around corners as suspected. Wear is typ looks to be a short term tire. thing works great in rocks. Its very dry here again- Im beginning to think that this el nino thing is another media hyp thing we have only had 2 real storms come through since "winter" started. rained more than twice but really storms only 2.....its already warm and dusty...
 
Oh yea opens 2 clicks of REB on the forks and set my GPR to 2 instead of my usual 1.......thing just rails our newly burned horse enduro trail.... yes it was flagged for an equestrian event , the riders said it was an " enduro" I found that interesting. a horse enduro.
 
im still really liking the Maxxis EN worked great on our ugly trail ride, on some well named sections. And for the reason I use it now its the lowest priced FIM tire.
I really like the side wall row of knobs for turning vice the less number on my previous Pirelli Scorp pro FIM . Again the wear is fast I have about 4 rides on the tire and its done and I am really not a slide and spin guy. FIM tires are really engineered to go 1 hard day......of Pro enduro comp.
 
You might really like the equilibrium. I rode with it at PV and it worked really well on those loose, rocky up Hills. Not sure how well it's going to wear though.
 
sorry man but I do want some knobs. and heck the dang euros/wec guys have been beating up the us riders and teams for years using fim 13mm knob tires. Im stuck on the Fatty front 90/100 fatty 140/80 rear formula wrapped around Michelin mousses. I have no love for trials type tires.
 
Now to be fair Robert.... They beat up on us because they ride the ISDE format all year on those crazy tires.... On the other hand, we ride our style "qualifiers" or now Sprint Enduros on regular knobbies then go compete on FIM knobbies at a format we don't do weekly.... heck we don't even hold the qualifiers in a terrain similar to where the event is going to be.... duh...

Now there are things I like about the FIM tires...they clear mud good, the spaced knobs help grip rocks and kinda the silly part when that guy is right behind you its easy to dust him out by switching to the slide and roost technic.... but again I ride like Robert most of the time, torque and easy throttle....
