  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Powerseal USA in Pa did the plating

The D shape of the arm is the opposite of the shaft coming from the bottom end.

Ahh have you had the cover off?
If its not factory sealed seems like soneones installed the pv arm back to front.
Does the thing move when the bikes running, my guess is no.

Pull lefthand cover off engine can be in bike lay it on its side pull cover and put the shaft right way round then get pv governor and hold it in position on the cover with the pv shaft then reinstall the cover.
Done.

Do you have the snap ring at the bottom of shaft where it transitions from small to large diameter? Take a look at my photos.

Yes.... Had to do the water pump shaft seal shortly after I brought it in 2011....

So you probably have not had a power valve since 2011... Just take the side cover off pull the power valve "governor" out (the thing with the spring that connects to the lever) make sure there is a bearing on both sides of where the lever connects and install it back on the cover side and the D should be facing the right way.

Here is a diagram for reference

Maybe late 2012****************************************??!! Most riding is tighter woods....
But It's all to the correct position..

THANKS ****************************************!

All the upper is but in exploded diagram #6 is 180 degrees out.
Pull the cover and check visually, never know it may of sheared.

Can you rotate the shaft clockwise through 180 with cover on?

Somehow it (the shaft) was 180* rotated. Not sure where the mix up was, I must have looked at the exploded view and set it up that way?!?!? I removed the cover, rotated the shaft to the correct orientation and reinstalled the cover. It bolted back up and I can feel the tension of the spring when I tightened down the nut.

Circlip was there, just rotated so you can not see it well.

On the bright side, I learned a method to adjust the side power valves without removing the front exhaust plate.
This is how I left it last night... And cleaned the carb too....
Today was daughter's 2 game soccer tournament with a travel basketball playoff game in between. 0306162037_HDR.jpg

Were you in pittsgrove for the tournament? My son has a 2 day tour. next week there.

Yes in Pittsgrove, Saturday was cancelled, still had snow on the ground late Friday night. So we played the Sat schedule on Sunday and they did a half credit to another EDP tourney later this year.

Looks pretty far away down there. I'm lucking out with the warmer weather this weekend. However, no riding!

Is there any way I can find out my bore\pistion size with out pulling my bike apaft first? I want to have all the parts before starting if possible. Is it stamped on the out side somewhere? My bike is a 08 wr250

The piston size is on the bottom of the barrel on the gasket face. The shock is a custom ohlins by fast bike industries

It's a great shock, but it came with the bike from the PO. I think it cost him something like $1200 because the lower mount is totally custom. I would say unless you're willing to spend that kind of money to say you've got one, you can spend far less to get the Sachs dialed for you.

Here's the link just in case...
