    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Another 610 Subframe reinforcement

I haven't had a problem with my subframe because the DirtBagz mounts do a lot to beef up the tail of the subframe, but decided to do something so there would be less to worry about especially on solo trips.
I did the usual gusseting of the "fingers":

Added some small gusset plates to the battery tray:

I decided to address the "tail fixture" in a way not to add stress to it by welding it all up solid, but instead bolting it together so the stresses can be spread out by slowly tightening the bolts:

I had mine reinforced last week. I traded a bike with a guy and the TE610 came with subframe problems. The whole battery tray was broken off and repaired with custom aluminum brackets (also broken) and bolts. The left rear subframe finger was also totally broken off. The back exhaust bracket was also broken so I cut it off and am going to rebuild off of the new welded gussets. Your welds on the battery box look a little better than mine. I cut out the aluminum and took it to a local welding shop. He was not a master welder but he did better than I would have done.

I really like your subframe bracket reinforcements. I might have to copy that. It is really the only area that needs strengthening on mine now.

Looks like you are good to go with what you have done. Yeah, there are so many forces that come together at the tail bracket from the inner fender, rear fender, subframe and in my case the dirt bagz brackets, that a little adjustibility and flex seemed important.
As a side note,
I had a gusset cut and fitted like yours on the RHS and the welder told me it didn't to be that long, so it got cut down. I still like the look of yours better.
Also I just happened to have a can of Krylon Chrome Aluminum #1408 and it so matches the subframe silver anodizing that I can't even believe it.
 
I am not planning on applying any finish on the new aluminum. Most of the aluminum gussets will be covered up by body panels anyway. Is there any reason I should?

I had actually made some small gussets for the top of the subframe fingers but the welder thought that they were totally unnecessary. They were left off.
 
Hey thanks. Ill show this the welder Im going to use for my bike hopfully the pitchers will help. If this becomes to much of an hazzle it might be time for a new bike.

Thanks, Yeah, I think they came out pretty good. Actually I had Mathew @ Decal Works make it up, thinking that Bill might like it and make a batch. I had it on the bike before the Fall Gathering, but after the snow started I didn't have the 610 (think 165) out much and Bill didn't see it. Kinda forgot about it to tell the truth....
