  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Another 2010 TC250 report...

buddy Mike just did a quick ride on the 2010 TC250 and said WOW, that sucker RIPS. reports of it being very strong seem reliable. He said even with the brand new motor it pulled HARD in the mid.

It will be interesting to see how lap times compare to the big 5 bikes. Most reports from magazine guys make it sound like a dog, but regular Joe's seem more than happy with the power. I'll bet most guys turn laps just as fast if not faster on this bike than the others. Just doesn't feel fast without a big "hit" in the power.

GK didn't have such good results with the new 250 at the GNCC, yesterday.
Yeah, true, he got 10th... on a bike he's ridden, at best, a few weeks... after coming off a WR 300. I understand he had a few mechanical issues as well. Give him some time. And don't forget the TC technically ain't a GNCC machine by design.

The report I read said he ripped the front brake line off and he couldn't get dry break lid to re-seat in the tank. It also said that he was ripping fast when he wasn't dealing with these issues. Said he didn't have any trouble competing with the more powerful bikes.

Yep. you know he did not just hop on it and hope for the best. Testing must have showed he was as fast or faster or at least real close to his WR300 times or I doubt he would have switched. After a certain amount of power you are getting slower as you have to control it, fight the front end and get tired faster.

Sounds good. Can't wait until I can buy a new TE250. I hope the motor isn't too sissified. Keep the TE and TC motors identical. The ignition by default will be heavier to power the electrics and that added flywheel should be enough for slippery woods.

There's alot more to it then that. In order for the TE to meet emmissions certificates I'm sure the timing and fueling must be altered to squeak by. However with the TE and TXC being fuel injected, I would imagine an Off-road Powerup kit would make the TE every bit as fun as a TXC, just my guess.

I am always amazed that these bikes can get a plate without DOT tires. Was the switch from the 300 to the 250 a choice or was it mandated by Husky to sell bikes? I have a hard time believing that GK would have picked the 250 over the 300 left to his own choices.

Not sure how true it is but I heard from a pretty good source that he loved the TC250 at the race. Even though it was fairly open he said the 6 speed made it nice. Also heard it started so easy he almost had the hole shot.

Again this is only hear say.

I'm thinking that TXC will be Sweet

I'm sure it has a lot to do with Husqvarna's agenda...this is their showcase bike...pride and joy!

i was lucky enough to test ride the new tc250 3 weeks ago on a 8 km enduro course. I really liked the bike. It felt light, good power for a 250, good steering. wat impressed me most is how light the bike feels. It also turns easy. Even with the light flywheel y had not stalling issues (some rocks and water crossings). I personally like the grunt of big singles, but i have to admit this bike impressed me. im sure in many instance i would be faster on the sweet little newcomer than on my te510.

You know who would really benefit from a bike like the new TC/TXC 250? Pretty much most of us riders who just do not need a 450f because our riding abilities are just not high enough to need the power of a 450f. My 08 TXC250 is more then enough power to get the job done.

I had Jake Stapleton ride my bike a few weeks ago and he really, really liked it. He still loves his 450 Yamaha but he has the skills to use all the power in the 450...I don't. Basically what I got from Jake was that the TXC250 was the perfect bike for most CC/enduro riders but that some professional riders would need to adjust their riding techniques in order to compensate for the reduced power of a 250.

Now if that is what Jake said about an 08 250 I wonder what he would say about the 2010? :)

You know last year I would have never thought I would like the 450 for the tight woods. I am loving coming into turns on the 450 and releasing the clutch in third gear. I do agree with you but that 450 power is so much stinking fun. I am looking forward to being able to flick the 250 around compared to the 450 flicking me. I need both but can't afford one.

I just got my Oct issue of TBM from England in the mail today. There is a Husky dealer ad in the mag that says that the new TXC 250 x-country is now in stock. So that would mean that they had them at least 2 weeks ago. You guys on the East coast should be seeing them any day now.

OBTW, what an assume looking bike

I want a TE 350 a 250 is too small for my weight, the 310 is just a tad better and the 450 is now a wee bit too big for my age in the tight. forget 310's and 400's and 390's it would make real symetrical sense to punch out a 250, a 350 and a 450 wouldn't it.

I got to take a brief parking lot spin on a 2010 TC 250 today and came away very impressed. The first thing you notice is the how light this bike really is, leaning the bike over to the side and picking it up made it hard to believe it is a four stroke. No top heavy weight at all. The bike started so effortlessly it made me wonder why I am waiting for the button. I am sure that if you flooded it on the trail it could be hard but if you already can jet a FCR carb and had a hot start lever I could see where this bike would not need the button. Whatever they did compared to the 2009 write ups the bike starts easy. First impressions was it revs like no other four stroke I have ridden, formula 1 fast. No thump, thump, thump, just again formula 1 style engine. Shifting was smooth and precise, so good that I noticed it right away. My big concern was lack of bottom end power but what I can tell from a parking lot the bike seems to have enough for woods work and with the fast revving engine it will get to the meat in a hurry. I came away less worried about the lack of bottom as I could tell there is plenty in the mid. The full titanium exhaust is bonus that the TE/TXC do not get. I did not get on it hard as the bike is still new but made it to about half throttle and could tell it was ready to go in a hurry. It was a very brief ride and I know it is hard to tell until you get the bike in the dirt. It was enough to make me want one though.

DAMMIT! Another reason to try to sell stuff to get one of these. :banghead:

Too cool! No wonder Hall's has $2500 off leftover '09 TXC250's!

I personally think that those 09 TXC250s are the best deals on the market today. I got a 2010 TC250 on Friday and yes, it is cool, but for $2500 less money, the 09 TXC250 is an better value. My mechanic was going to buy a 2010 TXC250 for himself and just told me on Sat that he is going to take an 09 TXC250 instead. He couldnt justify the difference in price and the 09 is proven technology.
